Got a mishmash of different “smart” things, have Tapo plugs already, thought I would give a bulb a try, TP link, did have 2 brands of smart stuff, one called Kasa and one called Tapo, thankfully, both brands now work from the Tapo app, which was handy as my older plugs where Kasa branded.
So what about the feature I mentioned ?
You can set the light to slowly, or quickly, if you like, ramp up or down in brightness over time, this is not uncommon, however, the settings used in the Tapo app, also persists when used via Alexa, so I set mine to ramp the bulb brightness down over 20 seconds in my living room, so when I go to bed, I can still see across the room, as I walk to the stairs, I even got a second bulb to ramp the brightness up in my bedroom in the morning, such a nicer way to wake up. I know this can be done with routines in Alexa, but who has time for that, a few clicks in the Tapo app, sorted, not a big thing, but better.
As for TP Link gear, it seems to be good for a reasonable price, one of my Kasa plugs has failed, but it must be 6 or 7 years old and used at least 2 or 3 times every day, with no days off, let’s hope the bulb does as well.
