I think it is perfect for its price. Its reliable, I had some problems with quicly battery dischaging through night, but after some time, after I adjust all the settings towards my liking and all necessary updates downloaded discharges stoped. Camera is rather good, again for this price. I like the clean Android experience. I am still not sure whether I like curved display or not. On one hand it gives the phone slim and stilish look, the display is big, but it still comfortable to hold the phone. On other - sometimes it difficult to operate on this edges, this parts of display are not that responsive. So for the most parts I am satisfied.

Had a recent upgrade to a pixel 7a but hated it from the start, the errant fingerprint scanner was really annoying! Decided to pass that on and look for a cheap android while still having somewhat impressive stats. Plumped for the moto edge 40 and wow, for £300 what a phone! So much better, imho, than the pixel 7a.
Fingerprint scanner (in screen) is quick and responsive. Fast charging (typically 40 mins or so) great refresh rate, great battery life (and i use my phone a lot for games during the day) lovely sleek looking phone with rounded edges, included phone protector is more than ample, beautiful display, lovely choice of colours (I chose green which is also kind of a faux leather effect), stunning brightness at max as well as some nifty Motorola exclusive shortcuts.
Very impressed and an absolute steal at @£300. Highly recommended

Bought 2 phones exactly the same only diffrence is the colour.i have red my partner has green they arrived Monday 15th Jan 2024 my partner has the green phone and it has been charged every day since he got it. I have charged mine once in the 5 days I understand people may use the phone more often than each other but its a bit hard to understand how you can looses between 30/40% batterylife when the phone is on the bedside table during the night and doing nothing, mine however is connected to a app called a freestyle libre2 for my diabetes and needs to be running 24/7 and looses virtually no battery life what so ever during the night. We both have deleted all unnecessary apps put battery setting to Motorola suggestions only using the Motorola charger I think this phone may have a fault some where

the price on Amazon jumps from £529 then £299!!! on rotation.
it is most certainly worth the money considering the camera has f1.4 lens just add to the value.

I hear a lot of people complaining it has no gorilla glass protection but it has Dinorex glass (NEG) manufactured by a Japanese company and there is nothing wrong with Japanese products.........
this should be just as good as gorilla and dragon trail glass
there is a video showing this phone scratches at a level 2 please don't believe everything on the internet level 2 is finger nail hardness! even tempered and normal glass can't be scratched with a finger nail!!

to sum up this is a great phone for the price I don't normal like vanilla Android as the camera app is buggy freeze /lock up etc
I know this because I had the nothing phone 1 and the google pixel doing the same thing and has never done this on a Samsung device.

software OS bugs!!
I wish Motorola stepped up their game and issued software updates!!!
to fix annoying bugs I see this on some other china manufactured brands they have brilliant hardware but let down by software this includes bug fixes and longer support for new OS versions!

and finally battery life... if this is important I can't recommend this device I have tried disabling settings refresh rate brightness I hate having to do this I end up with a device that's not useful and doing all this may give you only 2 % extra life against enabling everything so its counter productive.
that's the Beauty of Amazon you can return items if they do not meet satisfactory levels I dread the thought of buying handsets from high street stores today like I did in the late 90's early 2000...

I like this device but after a week or so I can't tolerate the battery life it's really is diabolical there is also issues with it not charging with certain cables and power banks and charging adapters I had similar issues with the pixel.... this aside it doesn't last me a day I have like 4 hours left and it's dead no good to me.

I have another very annoying issue the brightness will randomly drop down to the lowest brightness and remain there virtually a black screen and no buttons or touchscreen will work leaving me with basically a dead screen unable to see anything to activate it back on it does this far too often and is really aggravating I have considered returning.

I will also add the description states this device uses Dimensity 8200 but the phone shows Dimensity 1100
I am not sure what is going either way the phone needs to be charged constantly through the day I have left it as long as I could testing within the Amazon return period but It drains like crazy I haven't the patience to carry power banks or looking for power outlets every 2 hours!!

the final straw was the heating issues and and I have had a similar issue with a google pixel 6 pro
the device gets extremely hot and I don't mean warm or fast charging or with games.
I don't use fast chargers nor do I play games but this device heats up at random that I cannot hold it over the month of owning bouts of random heating for no reason when no apps are running a factory reset never helped.
I tried so much to like this device I really did the speakers camera all good but it needs charging 2 to 3 times a day so frustrating the heating so its unbearable to hold was the last straw ;(
I am not sure if I have a defective unit and I should try and buy another on Amazon either the Nero or the same handset but in another colour/storage option I have heard sometimes a certain batch may have issues this could be down to specifics colour or date batches! but I wouldn't want it get a defective one again and just after the 30 days require a repair when the issue arises within the first few days.
