Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Found it unbearably slow to start with. But have installed all the updates and now is working fine. Hopefully will be a good phone as I've been happy with the previous models.
I had been a very happy Redmi Note 10S user but as that sadly was utterly smashed when I slipped on some decking I needed a new phone and had no reason not to go back to what I thought would be a new and improved Note 12 5G.
Regretted this decision within the hour of starting up the phone.
I can only presume the positive reviews were prior to the System Update.
It was downloading a lot of apps, granted, but I felt like I was experiencing a full second of lag on each screen touch.
I tend to keep phones a few years so I've alwayd been really impressed with the increased response time with each new phone I've had. This was the first time I've sat there thinking, "Come on! Hurry up. This is supposed to be an upgrade."
Thankfully this did go after everything was downloaded and installed and the phone was rebooted a couple of times but it did make me question how good the processor was and how many bloatware apps it is running in the background.
Which brings me to battery life. If starting the day with a full battery my old Note 10S would easily still be at 65-70% on a light use day by the time I was ready for bed and around 35-40% on a day with lots of streaming, GPS use... etc
I'd seen a couple of things about concerns regarding MIUI 14 and battery life but the specs said the Note 12 was running MIUI 13.
Unfortunately mine came with MIUI 14 installed and it drains the battery so badly it's an embarrassment for a phone that boasts about having a 5000mA battery. My Note 10S had the same battery, same charger and could go from 0 to 100% in less than an hour. The 12 has taken over 2 hours to get to a full charge (actually stuck on 94%) with the screen on Dark Mode.
Today I left the house at 9am with 100%. By 2pm I had 25%. My morning included some medium use. Plugged back in to get back to 100% and was down to 5% again by 11:30pm.
It's so depressing to spend the best part of two full evening transferring all your apps, logins settings and now sat here thinking, "well, I've got to return it, as it's terrible".
Initially the camera feels like a downgrade on the 10S camera but it hasn't been properly put through its paces so it may have features that I've not fully explored yet.
Lastly, was playing songs and the speakers didn't feel quite as good as my old phone.
Now feeling the 12 is now actually a lite version as there is a 12 pro and 12 pro plus.
I may try a factory reset before I send it back and see if it goes back to MIUI 13 but I doubt it.
Never left a scathing review on here before and I'm very disappointed to be having to do so now.
