I'm coming to this phone from a Samsung S10+ flagship. Quite a difference in comparison. I'll start by listing (for me) the pros:-1. No notch. Hate it, island, notch, teardrop, call it what you will it spoils the screen. Now I'm back to a proper full screen experience. And the taller thinner screen is great for movies.2. Side mounted fingerprint scanner. Not a fan of under display. This is a touch faster and in a good location.3. Audio through headphones is awesome. Has aptx HD and if your headphones support it, you can tell the difference.4. Had it two weeks and it upgraded to Android 13. More streamlined experience. And this phone has almost zero bloatware.5. Despite no 120hz the screen is great quality. And goes very bright with excellent colour reproduction.6. Battery life is phenomenal. You just can't kill the phone in a day. Awake at 5.30am, an hour of news browsing, record a bike ride to work, 7hrs of streaming Spotify to a Bluetooth speaker, an hours browsing while on breaks, another bike ride home and all day connected to a smart watch and 12hrs after coming off charge, it's still on 60%. Fantastic.Now cons1. Camera is just OK. Nothing bad but just good. It's good enough for me but if you're into your photos it may not be good enough.2. It's a bit slow. I am however coming straight from a top end, albeit older flagship so I might be noticing that lack of speed a bit more.3. Bluetooth connectivity is not the best. At least twice a day would disconnect from my watch, my speaker at work too. Now, this seems to have been addressed with the update to Android 13 and I have to admit that it's not happening now. But will your region get 13 (I'm in the UK) so take that into account. It still doesn't auto connect as it should, not all the time.4. The phone comes with nothing. No charger, no case, no SIM tray tool, nothing. And there aren't a lot of good quality cases out there either.5. Battery optimisation. Now while this does contribute to the awesome life it is overzealous with some apps. Nearly every app is automatically set to "restricted" and you'll have to live with it for a bit to see which apps are being killed too soon and then go to the settings of that app and turn off the restrictions. Can be a bit of a pain.6. The speaker is very poor in my opinion. It's front firing, which is good for watching media but it's just not loud enough.All in all, I'm a little disappointed with this phone. Its pros, for me outweigh the cons. The notch, the side mounted fingerprint scanner, the Bluetooth audio, the battery are all paramount. A lot of the other stuff has been improved with the upgrade and through using it this last month. It's certainly a far better user experience than when I got it. I'm also aware that this is a midrange phone and I've been spoilt the last two years.That said, bluetooth issues on any phone in 2023 is unacceptable.
