Is this right or poor finishing? I can’t connect my soundbar via the optical input socket. Unfortunately the soundbar, although Bluetooth, doesn’t consistently connect.

I bought this after returning a Toshiba Fire TV. Specs all good, but I didn't think to check it would take a Freesat box. I live out in the wild (15 minutes from Tunbridge Wells 🙄) and we can't get a Freeview signal, so being able to use Freesat is essential. If you're in the same position then this TV is perfect! I'm not up on all of the technical specs, but it has great picture quality, can download and easily use all the apps I want/need, sound is good and for the size it's a great price.
The only issue I had was the legs being on the ends of the TV and my cabinet not quite being wide enough, plus needing it to be at an angle so everyone can see it (stupidly shaped lounge!) I did think I might have to send it back but then discovered I could use a stand that's central and swivels, that uses the holes you'd use to attach it to a wall with the same brackets - so for under £20 I can now turn the TV to any angle I want, which is perfect. It's got enough hdmi/usb ports etc that is needed.
It probably isn't the most amazing TV on the market, but I'd rather have this one that's still great quality and save myself a grand!!
So only one star off simply due to it making more sense to have a central stand rather than legs either end - other than that it would be 5*

I'm really happy with my Fire TV 4 (43")! we upgraded from a very old 32" smart TV and this feels SO much bigger!! Lol it's lovely and sleek with a barely-there bezel and easy to fit, elegant legs. The features are really intuitive, and it was so easy to set up (with smart phone in hand!). My only criticism is the default media player for playing from usb... I didn't expect it to play AVI files, as that's an old format now (& almost everything worth watching on a 4k TV comes in MP4 OR MKV these days!) BUT you literally can't manage subtitle Giles AT ALL (as in .srt files). Some downloads will play embedded subtitles but some don't (I haven't figured out which, or why, yet!) and although you can install VLC media play on it, you can't adjust the aspect ratio in VLC on fire?! So you either have to put up with a stretched picture or no subs!

Streaming works flawlessly, and it linked up wirelessly to my Majority Soundbar without a hitch (though I did have to do a factory reset after 2 weeks because the audio from the blu ray on HDMI just stopped working! It was easy to fix once I figured out what was wrong).

All in all, for under £250 it's a bargain!

I bought this because I was looking for an affordable TV for watching wind-down TV in an evening while getting ready for bed, I was pleasantly surprised that the picture quality is better than my 2020 Hisense 4K TV and the HDR is also handled significantly better. The brightness is also surprisingly good. As you might expect, the built-in speakers do leave a lot to be desired but they're certainly better than others I've experienced over the years; that being said, I did purchase a soundbar which solves the problem nicely.

The interface is virtually the same as FireTV stick or FireCube, if you've used those previously then you'll be right at home with the Amazon TV. Navigating the menu is somewhat clunky and slow to respond, I suspect a lack of processing power is the issue here. When first switched on the menu navigation is almost glacially slow, this does improve somewhat after a few minutes (presumably as it checks for updates etc and completes any initial switch-on routines), switching to Freeview channels is very slow no matter what however - typically a good 10 seconds or so to go from the main interface to the TV Guide or directly to a channel in the previously watched section.

Streaming apps such as iPlayer and ITVX are very hit and miss in regard to quality, stuttering and framerate issues. Netflix, Prime and Youtube are absolutely flawless picture quality, but again the menus can be a bit slow to navigate and respond to remote input.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this as a main (living room) TV which would be getting constant use, I would highly recommend it as a bedroom TV or any other room where the TV isn't used as much but having a decent quality TV is still preferred. It's a good TV at a reasonable price IMO, and I would now be interested in seeing how the higher priced range of Amazon TVs performs.

 TV was delivered today so this review may change. Video quality is fantastic with a great amount of settings to change it to your taste. Audio quality is very full, doesn't tear at high volume and has good base. Setup was quick and easy. The selection of apps is great and linking them was easy using phone. Arrived in perfect condition without a scratch on the box. My only complaints so far are : The screws are very hard to get into the legs. When trying to control the Tv very quickly it does lag but sorts itself out very quickly. I couldn't think of anything you will get more value for money, especially if purchased on Amazon day for a discounted price.

Edit Feb 24 - TV still works great, no issue and no fall in product quality. I have had maybe 2 or 3 technical issues with the Tv, all involving Apple AirPlay connection (could be an apple problem)
