I purchased this adaptor cable to connect a reproduction Valiant Turtle Communicator to my Linux PC. My previous adaptor cable, which uses the Prolific chipset, was a bit hit or miss when using hardware flow control, but this cable with an FTDI chipset works perfectly!

Worked out the box with Windows (10 and 11) picking up the drivers automatically.
The DE9/RS232 plug (with USB chip) is compact enough (only marginally longer than a standard DE9 connector) to fit inside the enclosure I needed it to.

Only niggle is that the listing image is a solid black cable (which matched the others in use here), but the product has a dark brown transparent sheath, showing the braided shielding inside.

Unfortunately the drivers (even the latest on the manufacturers website https://sabrent.com/pages/support#Downloads) only mentions up to Catalina 10.15. So had to return the product. Install error is

"System Extension Blocked
A program tried to load new system extension(s) signed by "Prolific
Technology Inc." that need to be updated by the developer."

I believe the issue is more around Apple locking down their operating system, rather than a faulty product. So the manufacturer needs to either update drivers, or instruction, or make it clear on Amazon that not all Mac OS versions are supported

The product itself felt good quality, so I would imagine it would be great for other operating systems
