Extremely happy with my headphones. It looks very stylish - it might not feel very sturdy but I just bought a headphone case for £5 to keep it safe. It arrived within 4-5 days and was well packaged.
The sound quality is perfectly fine for the price. It might not pack a punch but it is clear and well balanced. Plus you can always go into your music equaliser on your phone/iPod etc, and change it accordingly to your preference.
If you're a bit of an audiophile or want something that really hits the bass and high notes, you would want to look towards Bose or Beats (or sennheiser hd201 for a cheaper alternative). However if you're happy with a satisfactory clear sound on a budget then this is great! I got these for about £15 including p&p which is a bargain since they include the microphone for handsfree talking. The sound doesn't bleed that much so it should be fine for a commute.
They're on-ear meaning that they sit on your ears. This can be uncomfortable for people with large ears (if you do have large ears you might prefer over-ear headphones, also known as around-ear). But I have fairly small ears so they just rest on the top of my ears. The leather cuffs feel quite comfortable and don't get sweaty (of course I haven't exercised with them on yet so they might get sweaty with some physical exertion).
The wire is normal, it would've been better if the wire was braided because it would reduce the risk of damaging the wires, however they are still good for the price.
It has a standard L-shaped jack, so it will fit into almost all devices.
These headphones would be a good choice for people who just want simple headphones, or for children who need some entertaining.

This is my second purchase of these Sony headphones, the last pair lasted about 8 years, ( no complaints) Reason for changing after 8 years is that the rubber ear cushion started to degrade, thus producing small black, unwelcome rubbery bits into my earhole.

Don't worry, this is a decent set for the money giving good quality & volume which would suit most people.

Edited: This set doesn't overide sound on the laptop when plugged in to the jack, its not quite as good as before, there's been a reduction of quality but my second lot works ok.

They fold down into a case (if you have one) , nothing to dislike at the price, cheap as chips, good sound, safe buy, send back if you don't like 'em.

I needed some headphones. In the ear ones do not suit me at all. They either hurt, fall out, don't sit well and give you rubbish sound, or are just tinny. So I went for some over the head ones. Being a bit of a sound buff and liking decent sound systems, I was struggling to find decent earphones. I didn't want to get those massive things you see people wearing nowadays that are bigger than their heads but I didn't want to get tiny things and find the sound output was rubbish. I looked for middle of the road sized ones and because I wasn't sure about them, I didn't want to go and spend a small mortgage on a set that I was only going to be using now and then. So, I went for these and for the price, I thought, well if they're not great it is no great loss.

As it turns out, the sound quality is fantastic. Sony are generally pretty reliable for sound and vision technology and these are a no exception. Ear coverage is pretty good but not complete, which suits me. This cuts out almost all external noise nicely. The wire is a reasonably good length. The connector is an angled connector which is great on a mobile phone where they stupidly put the jack connector on the bottom of the phone.

Only a small criticism for me would be the over head arch is a bit on the bulky side but as they're adjustable, if the arch is too narrow it would be flimsy. These are pretty sturdy so form vs function trade-off which isn't a big issue. Part of me wishes I had got a wireless set of headphones as the wire can get in the way BUT, my experience with wireless headphones has always been that you find they're dead when you want to use them, or they run out of power during playback and keeping them fully charged all the time without discharging the battery would eventually kill the battery, so I did make a conscious decision to buy a wired set.

All in all, no regrets and should these ever give up the ghost, I'd buy another set or an equivalent one from Sony. You don't need to pay the earth for headphones.
