Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I did a lot of research before purchasing this Samsung A8. I do not like to spend a lot of money on phones, but I wanted a phone that works well and has a decent camera. I had an LG G2 for 4 years before owning this A8, and my only gripe about the G2 was the camera. I had borrowed an iPhone 6 before buying this phone, and I feel the quality of photos is at least as good as the iPhone 6, if not better. I like that it can take decent low light photos. I rook the food photo with the A8. Its camera is not as good as the S series, of course, but its general appearance and shape is similar.
It comes with Oreo and an October 2018 update came a day or so after I set up the phone.
I was slightly concerned that this was an international version, that it would be funky in some way that wasn't described. I called T-Mobile customer service to make sure it would work... It does, and it has good call quality. It has the USB C cable, which I like but I needed to buy an extra. It comes with a clear plastic case that does not really protect the front glass and is slippery (the case is on the phone in the picture, but you can't really tell). The instructions were in Chinese and the language was set to Chinese when I turned on the phone, but setting the language is on the very first screen. According to T-Mobile customer service you can put the SIM card in either of the 2 slots. The international aspect did not end up being any problem at all.
The phone is fast enough for my use. I do multitask but do not play games on it. The battery was only at 68 percent last night after using it for internet and email all day. Doesn't heat up, either.
After 1 week, I am happy with this phone. It exceeds my expectations for a mid- range phone.
