What is a ‘Country Format’ smartphone?
Many smartphone manufacturers adapt their products to meet the needs of a country or region. This means that the appearance and design of the physical product is similar or identical, but the software may be localised based on the language or technical configuration (e.g. it may start with a different language as the default). These products will contain a user manual and accessories (e.g. charger) based on the specific needs of that country or region.
Can I use these smartphones in the UK?
In most cases these smartphones will work with UK mobile networks, however we recommend that you check with your network or carrier before you buy it. There may also be features that are limited or not enabled for the UK, so we also recommend that you check with the manufacturer for any features that are not available in the UK. When you set up your smartphone, you will be presented with the option to select the language you want to use, or you can select a different language in settings afterwards. If you do not receive a user manual in English, you will be able to find a downloadable copy either on this Amazon product page or by visiting the manufacturer’s website.
Why should I consider purchasing a different country format?
Some country formats may provide a price saving on the product compared to the UK format.
Do these smartphones come with manufacturer’s warranty?
A UK format will include the usual manufacturer’s warranty. If you purchase a smartphone intended for a country within the EU, they will include an EU warranty. If you purchase a smartphone intended for a country outside of the EU, it may not include a valid manufacturer warranty. We recommend that you visit the manufacturer’s website to confirm the warranty before you purchase.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Everything but everything is snappy, the display is gorgeous minus a slight issue (I have a minor defect in terms of colours on the bottom part of the screen, but I have had similar issues with AMOLED panels before) and the 90Hz refresh rate makes the phone feel so much more fluid, charging is very fast though, for the first time in a phone (for me) it's not needed as it gets through to the end of the day easily (I tend to leave things like Bluetooth on, use the screen a lot).
The cameras are both amazing and a disappointment; the main sensor is great, and while you might get a better photo from something like a google pixel, this is good enough for any situation I've thrown at it.
The Ultra-wide is great for fitting a lot in, but don't expect to make out much detail. It's good for group photos, but things like landscape photos are far too soft (think blurry, but still in focus if that makes sense).
The depth sensor I don't really see the point - it's supposed to help with portrait mode shots, but software edge detection from a single camera is as good now, so seems like wasted hardware.
The macro camera is, to put it bluntly, awful. They've tried doing software updates to fix the main complaints (no detail, lack of colour) and while they have fixed the lack of colour, the detail cannot be fixed as 2MP is not enough. That isn't to say you won't find use out of the macro camera, you might find a use case, however I prefer to just zoom in on the main sensor for a clearer photo.
I don't take selfies, so I'll leave it to others to describe those.
The frame is plastic, not metal (though it does look like it) and the back is glass - this still makes it feel like a modern, pricier phone. There are some concerns surrounding structural integrity (bend tests), however I don't think anyone would be likely to put that much pressure on their phone unless they were trying to snap it.
The speaker is loud, however it is only a single, bottom firing, and at high volumes sounds quite tinny.
I think whether you go for this phone depends on what you are looking for - if it's camera, a powerhouse for performance, or a 2 day battery life, this probably isn't the phone for you; it may be adequate for you but you might find yourself wishing for something more
If you want a cheap(ish - compared to today's flagships), adequate performing, high refresh rate AMOLED display, 5G capable, fast charging, flagship-looking, everyday phone, you're in the right spot.
- Good Camera
- Good Battery
- Fair Screen for watching the odd YouTube vid on.
Coming from the Galaxy S9 to this phone, it certainly delivers all this and more. The Battery is huge 4100mAh with my daily use can easily get a good Day & half out of it. Probably two days if i wasn't using it every 5 minutes. The Battery charges so fast i barely even remember the last time i charged the thing, 10 / 15 minutes its good for the day.
The camera was good, recent software update from OnePlus polished the camera quality a huge bit. I've side loaded Gcam (Google Camera) software which makes the camera great. Its fast, snappy and responsive.
The entire experience OnePlus delivers on this phone is superior. I think far superior to Samsung devices. Its the subtle tweaks / enhancements they make to the native google experience which make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
10/10 will recommend to anybody in 2020. I'll never go back to a Samsung device for aslong as they keep shipping the rubbish Exynos chips to EU customers. SnapDragon is and will always be King.
I have never gotten on with fingerprint readers behind the screen as they are so temperamental but this was not noticeably worse than Samsung fingerprint readers.
The blue is very fetching and looks premium, but of course you’ll likely be putting a case on it anyway…
90hz is so nice coming from a 60hz S10+
Unfortunately the one I have keeps over heating after doing light stuff like personal hotspot and downloading. Files/games when setting the phone up for the first time. [Since updates I haven't had any overheating doing light stuff but maybe that's due to the the heatwave going away].
When this does happen everything on the NORD is extremely slow. The volume buttons take 1-1.5 secs to rejester a long press. The screen goes way below 60hzs. Also the 30w warp charging has so far from my experience has just been as fast as my 15w S10+. Taken a good 40mins to get to 50. Not what I expected for 30w charging? This has now been fixed due to sofware or the the heatwave. updates However apart from this when web browsing and watching movies etc. It's a good option for the average person. Also this NORD phone can game but just so you know that it will probably over heat so when this happens the phone screen will dim down a little bit. When I mean it over heats I mean that I will get a notification saying on the line off the phone is too hot and some stuff will be restricted till the phone cools down. As I use my phone as a WiFi modem all the time for personal hotspot the NORD hoverheats slot of the time especially on a hot day at around 27c+. again probs due to th heat wave UK had 31c plus for a week when i was doing my testing. Hopefully this helps you out. Also i've noticed that at my work I don't have very little service and i'm on EE network. I'm unfortunately unable to play music sometimes or call on the OnePlus NORD. So i put the sim card in my S10+ and i could call, text, and load facebook and sometimes youtube with only a little delay. that makes me believe that the NORD over estimates the service it has evern though its a 5g phone. my sim is 4g. I did my test running YouTube from 100% to 0% on 50% brightness and 50% volume i got an accurate time of around 14h 57mins. 30W charging most days gets a full charge in 1hr. so I advise NOT plugging it in overnight with the 30W charger. Plug it in with a 5W cable and 5W wall plug if you charge over night. What i do is wake up in the morning and just do all the stuff i need to do then before you know it its on 75%. I did drop the phone and it was on concrete and i has the case on the down side as the frame is made of plastic the shock just made a dent in the phone and the case as you can see in the pics.
