Definitely 9.5 wide was the way to go. The sandal is too narrow so order wide no matter. I was able to dance all night in these sandals at my friends wedding ( meanwhile all my girlfriends were taking their shoes off and switching to flip flops) he including the bride 😅

I bought the wide size because I was told the strap over the toes can be uncomfortable if it is tight. The first time I wore these was to a wedding. I never wear heals. Ever. And these were actually not bad. I stood for a few hours in them and survived.

I normally wear a size 5.5, however I found this size uncomfortable when tried on. The fit was narrow (my feet were hanging over the sides of the shoe) and the fit of the strap across the toes was especially bad, as it was way too tight compared to my other heeled sandals... My poor squashed toes were crying out as soon as I put these on!
As the smallest wide fit shoe available in the Vera style was a size 6W, I took a chance and ordered a half size up. Turns out this was perfect for me, as the shoes were comfy, the bottom of my feet felt better supported, and there were no more issues with the toe strap!
In terms of the look, I love the simplicity of this style. It's a great nude heel to wear with everything, it's easy to walk in, and it's a perfect dressy shoe for me to wear to an outdoor wedding. Very pleased!
