This is a high quality tool that I purchased from Bamford Trading through Amazon, it was eligible for prime delivery so it arrived the next day and the product was in its original packaging. I needed a smaller torque wrench than my current one that starts from 80nm for some motorcycle repairs that I needed to complete to get back on the road.
This Draper tool is high quality and accurate as you would expect from a name like Draper and included in the hard plastic storage case is a calibration inspection certificate. The case is handy for keeping the tool safe if you just keep it on shelves with other tools. The torque wrench works in both left and right orientation but you should not use this to loosen off tight bolts as this is a calibrated tool.
Overall this is a great little tool that is capable of most low torque jobs and its from a reputable name so if this is the kind of tool you are looking for then I do recommend this as it served me well for what I needed it for, I received a follow up email from Bamford Trading to make sure I am happy with the product and a small introduction about themselves as a small British company which was really nice, so thanks Bamford Trading
This comes in a decent plastic case and the item is solid and heavy. Better than expected to be honest. It's easy to adjust (if you actually know how to use a Torque wrench properly) and feels professional in the hand. I would recommend getting some adapters at the same time so you can use any existing sockets that you may already have as many of them will not be compatible with the 3/8" size.
The only reason I have marked this down to 4 stars is that the price has gone painfully above what I paid for it three months back. Whether this is Brexit or just the fact that they can I don't know but for £40 you may want to look around at other options if it's occasional use.
I waited 3 days for this to arrive whilst half-way through a job. Set the tool to 60NM and began tightening. I started to get concerned because it did not click where I expected, but carried on because I trusted the tool to be correct. I eventually stopped and sure enough the bolt is over-tightened. I then tested this at 20NM, which is basically finger tight and it didn't break away or click at this range either.
Is this tool faulty? It's got a calibration certificate so someone or something has tested this at some point; What happened in the mean time?
It looks nice, if you want a display piece, but that is its only redeeming feature. I do not recommend you use this tool on anything you care about because you will have a very bad day.
I bought this wrench on the 24th January 2017. It has a calibration certificate dated February 2015. Can anyone tell me if it still safe to use since it was calibrated two years ago? I not happy to use it straight out of the box as the manual says it needs to be calibrated each year but it's been sitting on a shelf somewhere for the last two years. I don't want to have to pay to have a brand new torque wrench calibrated.
Edit: I have since used it and it has worked perfectly. Nice audible click and release of torque.
