Ordered the 4 pack. One for each of our 3 suitcases and one for the car which was parked at an off site airport car park. Easy to set up, connected straight away and allowed us to track our cases through the airport and onto the plane. Certainly appear good quality, small and discreet and easily slipped into the zip of our cases. Gives that extra peace of mind and hopefully on that odd appearance when your case doesn't turn up it should be easier to locate. Used it the odd time on holiday to make sure the car was where it was supposed to be.

Alright, folks, let's dive into these shiny little coin things called AirTags.

Having lost my wallet recently I was more bothered about the sentimental things inside of it...photo's that can't be replaced. I'm not normally the type of chap that loses things but this was something I could have avoided with something as simple as an airbag.

Just like all of the other reviews...so simple to set up. Just pull the tab and hold your phone over it, three or four simple questions etc. later and you are done....takes about a minute.

Wish i had done this earlier so bought 4 to cover the wallet (lots of wallets have airbag pockets now), keys, and one for the dog as he tends to chase rabbits in the fields opposite our home.

Of note, this DOES work with RFID wallets in case you were wondering.

Firstly it’s kinda working, not perfectly but to a great extend already, without any operation cost unless changing battery.

Other solutions, either relying on specific apps and not possible to be as broadly covered by Apple devices across the world, or, needing telecom subscriptions to send data.

If money is not a problem, I’d probably choose those GPS tags with cell connections as they’re supposedly always updated as long as having network coverage.

While on AirTag, I can identify stuff’s location in certain time but not real time. Even I know there’s an iPhone next to the AirTag, it still won’t report its location in near real time, unless I close and start the Findmy app again. It seems like, apart from Apple wanna update there AirTag location as much/little as it wants, or it’d have to be “pulled” by my checking at the instance opening the app. So if I just open the app, I might still see the location of some tags from yesterday while I’ll sure there’re iPhones around for very long during the period, including at home, while some may get sooner updated location but still not near real time. That’s what I’m puzzling what the update logic/trigger is, regardless there’re already lots of discussion online.

The connectivity is also kind of hit or miss. When I’m just few steps away from some tags inside some fabrics like jacket or backpacks (I’m sure they’re not radio insulating materials like those for faraday bags), I might still not able to detect direction of it in the Find function of a Findmy App.

But this is so far the best I believe I can get without ongoing operation cost, so I probably still need to bear with it.
