I have a Mac mini, for my sins, and the stupid little built in thing that's supposed to produce sound is so laughably inadequate that I generally didn't bother with voice / video calling or much else. Tried a very old Bose Soundlink Mini on which the battery had died, using it plugged in to power, but Dr Bose's cleverness and Apple's bloody-mindedness combined to make it unmanageable.

I was wary about buying a pair of speakers for £14, thinking that they might well not be any better that the thing in the Mac mini (I do my normal listening to music / TV etc on a Naim Muso 2nd Generation which is awesome). But, I rationalised, it's Amazon, and if the speakers are no good I can always send them back.

Suffice to say they won't be going back. They're really nicely finished and sit unobtrusively on my desk. They look quite swish, actually - the reviewer here who said it's a shame they have the trashy Amazon branding needs to go to Specsavers. Or somewhere that adjusts silly attitudes. The sound is clear and open. No, not much bass and not much punch and they don't really go loud but if you want a speaker pair to do those things you're going to need to look at some much more expensive kit. For video conferencing, phone calls, occasional background music listening, everything you might normally want to do on a desktop pc, these are great. Really good. And did I mention they only cost £14?

Nicely played, Amazon.

These Amazon Basic branded PC/laptop speakers are actually pretty decent and do their intended job well, in providing a decent speaker output for "run-of-the-mill" PC use such as Zoom calls, basic YouTube use, even a bit of background music but probably lacking for those into serious gaming.
Make no mistake, these aren't high end and your streaming audio quality certainly isn't concert hall standard, but they deliver a good, punchy sound.
The speakers are a good weight but don't take up a huge space. Easily connected up, they use a spare USB output for power and then simply plug into the 3.5mm audio jack; no setting up other than setting the inline volume control to max, you can then use your OS volume to adjust. Volume is good enough and providing you aren't expecting too much, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Only two gripes, both of which already mentioned by others.
• Crappy "Amazon Basic" branding adores the top
• Fairly pointless blue LED in base but I don't find this as distracting as others make out (speakers aren't massively on display though).
All in all, decent value and work well, a good little product.

My 13 year-old son needed a set of small speakers for his PC gaming setup. He's no audiophile and just wanted something better than the tinny built-in speaker he was using. A quick bit of searching and these Amazon basic speakers came up at a very reasonable price and were well reviewed.

They arrived promptly, via Prime shipping and the unboxing was a pleasant surprise in that these little speakers have quite a bit of weight to them. They feel expensive and well made. Certinaly better than some low-end speakers I've handled in the past. They look great, I opted for the silver version. The blue lighting underneath adding a touch of extra atmosphere when dark.

The sound re-production was as good as you would hope for a speak of this size. With no separate sub-woofer, the bass was always going to be lacking, but to be fair to these Amazon Basic speakers, they sound brilliant. I genuinely don't think you could get any better for this price, or even double the price. 5 out of 5 stars for me. They look, and more importantly, sound fantastic for the money.

For the price these are pretty good. The sound quality is decent and they're a definite upgrade from the built-in speaker of my work laptop. They're not gaming speakers by any means but they do the job and don't take up a lot of desk space. After a year of use, they're starting to falter though and there's a certain amount of cable wiggling needed to get stereo sound

I bought this speaker for £15. for the price I paid, I wasnt expacting much but this is a well build speaker with good quality sound. My use case is very basick in that I bought it becouse my moniter didnt have a speaker so bouth this honestly I was not expacting good sound quality for £15. A great buy check in the used like new section usually "like new" from the Amzon warehouse goes around £12. Base is good, Tribles are desent.

The replacement speakers worked as per instructions, and the sound is very good and since I can change the direction the speakers are facing, the sound easily fills my bedroom, kitchen and even the garage where I sometimes work. VERY PLEASED WITH THIS QUALITY, STURDY product which should last me for YEARS!
