I needed a training mat for indoor use to work on swings during the winter season, as well as continue while away from the golf club. This mat is perfect. While it does not provide any swing detection as the description states, it does provide a solid base to practice from. The only detection you get is a little bit of ruffled turf the same as any indoor sim mat. The materials seem to be very durable and after some good hours on it, there is no noticeable issues as of yet. I expect over time it will wear, but that is more dependent on use. I will say I am practicing mostly with foam balls, but noticed no difference in hitting a few actual golf balls from the mat. I don't have a net at the moment so hitting foam balls is sufficient for now.

There are 2 provided tee holders that are level to the surface to add your own tees and you can work out different practice strategies using them both, (taking a swing and not hitting the one behind your ball). The turf is very strong and absorbs club impact in the same feel as any indoor golf sim.

The rubber bottom holds the ground very well and does not slide all over. It will move a little here and there depending on the surface you set it on. I have ordered an additional mat for standing on to ensure I am level with the mat, otherwise you may hammer in a swing that will be an inch higher than standing on even turf.

Very worth the cost, you will not find another at the price and quality. I find this to be a very strong turf mat. I gave it 5 stars even though the description is really not accurate.

While I am reviewing this under the Amazon Vine program, I would still have bought this mat anyway simply due to the price, but I was not expecting quite a high quality training tool. Snap this up before someone realizes this should cost alot more than it's listed price.

This mat is excellent. Perfect for at home/yard practice.

The base is thick and sits firm in place without even fastening it.

The grass is as good as any range i’ve used.

It’s built tough and has two tee holes. There’s two rubber tees inserted that are flush with the grass top, so i think you would have to buy yourself some tees or diy something if you want some higher tees.

The price/value is a hole in one! Highly recommended.

This is a thick and heavy turf mat. No special installation needed. It's heavy and non-slip enough to simply put down and use.

The mat feels great and is a very good way to practice. You can put it down anywhere so you don't damage the grass or to use on other surfaces.

I gave 1 star because of the description. There's no swing path analysis or anything special to help with posture. It's a turf mat: a good one, but only that and the description should be correct.

If this mat is still selling for $21, buy it now and read this review later because someone will soon realize that this mat should cost 3 times that.

The seller’s description which is current at the time of this writing has an interesting backstory. The person tasked with writing it wanted to get it done but they had bigger priorities than actually doing the work. They were not familiar enough with various types of golf mats to realize that when they copied the text from at least 3 different sources that the types of golf training mats were all different. What they ended up doing was making a mishmash of words and concepts that do not belong together. If you are fluent English speaker and the description makes no sense to you, that’s because it just doesn’t make sense.

This Pearleaf golf mat is one of three types of golf mats mentioned. It has artificial turf that simulates the experience of being on the turf at the golf course. The base of these types of golf training mats is made of heavy, natural rubber and varies in dimensions between 12” x 16” and 13” x 17”. By the way, this Pearleaf one measures 13” x 17” which is far superior to a 12” by 16” mat. With these types of golf trainers, the heavier the mat the better. The weight will help keep the mat from skidding across the floor of your house, will help to flatten the terrain if using the mat outdoors, and will absorb some of the shock from the impact of your club. The heaviest top mat/rubber mat combination I have seen is 2 kilograms. This Pearleaf top mat/rubber mat combo weighs 2.0 kilograms.

The second type of golf training mat is for tracking where your club touches the ground, if at all. These training mats use the same heavy, natural rubber bases as the turf-tops described above. Rather than realistic turf, their top layer is covered in sequins. When the sequins are lying down flat they are green and you can see guidelines drawn to help you measure the angularity of your stroke. After you strike the ball (or imaginary ball), the sequins touched by the club will flip over to their white side and will remain so until you flip them back. Your trajectory is revealed as well as the degree to which your club touched the surface. This Pearleaf golf trainer does not have any sequins; it is a turf-top. This accounts for some of the confusion in the description.

Some golf training mats with heavy rubber bases and an area of about 13” x 17” have top surfaces which employ Velcro to hold the top mat to the base. Other golf training mats may look identical but the top mat and the base are forever glued together. If you have the Velcro system you can replace the top mat with a similar top mat when yours wears out. You can also switch out one type of top mat for another as long as the dimensions of the top mat are the same. For example, you could purchase a golf training mat which has only a turf top but you could later buy just the top part of a sequined mat of the same size. Pull off the turf and drop in the sequined top mat. Now you have a different way to perfect your stroke. The only real complaint I have with this Pearleaf mat is that the turf mat is glued to the rubber mat.

The description of this Pearleaf mat also mentions that you are to either tape this to the ground or secure it with spikes. That is not how you use one of these heavy rubber based mats but it IS how you need to use a much larger but much lighter mat. The lightweight mats can weigh in the neighborhood of 300 grams. Some of these mats use sequins on the surface, some use plush, and some use turf.

I hope that clears up some of the confusion for you.

This Pearleaf mat is not my only turf-topped, heavy natural rubber based golf training mat. I recently gave 5 stars to a very similar mat. It was turf topped, 13” x 17”, and weighed 2.0 kilograms. What was superior about the other mat was that it came in a glossy cardboard box rather than arriving in a plastic bag. The only important difference is that the other one had a Velcro system of adhesion. Should I still give this one 5 stars then? Actually, yes. The other very similar mat costs $68 today (excluding any discounts or coupons). This one costs $21.

This mat is heavier/thicker than almost all the other mats I have seen. Very solid. Which is a good thing since I am a huge duffer! As I get comfortable with it, I can really see my confidence building, as a result, my swing improves along with it. There are 2 holes to mount your tees in. Just add a back net some clubs, tees and a ball, and you are closer than every to being the next John Daly! ( I wish). Seriously, this is a lot more convenient than going out to the driving range, and will do a world of good. Anyone wanting to seriously improve their game should have a golf mat. This specific model is up there with the best. Value for money is very high.
