Der M834 ist ein guter Thermodrucker, hat aber so seine Tücken.

Die Einrichtung via Smartphone erfolgt über Bluetooth und einer Phomemo-App.
Phomemo ist ja sowieso eine große Marke im Thermodruck-Bereich.

In der App wird automatisch das Modell erkannt und man kann sofort das Papier auswählen, welches man eingelegt hat und bedrucken möchte. Alle Formfaktoren, die man in den Drucker einlegen kann, sind auch in der App auswählbar. Das macht die Nutzung um ein Vielfaches einfacher.

Wenn man allerdings speziellere Größen an Thermopapier hat, so kann man dies leider nicht einstellen oder auswählen. Zumindest nicht über die Phomemo-App. Schade, aber das dürfte auch nicht so häufig vorkommen.

Die Nutzung über Windows ist ähnlich dem eines "normalen" Druckers. Bei MacOS hingegen hab ich die ein oder andere Herausforderung gehabt, da der Treiber auf der Seite irgendwie nicht richtig installieren wollte... Naja, aber dafür hat der Support von Phomemo mir echt super weitergeholfen und ist jeden Schritt mit mir im Livechat durchgegangen, bis alles funktionierte.
SUPER SUPPORT!

Der Thermodrucker lässt sich aufklappen und bietet Platz, um eine Rolle Papier einzulegen. Mit zwei Plättchen kann man die Größe (bzw. Breite) der Papierrolle vorgeben, sodass auch die kleinste Rolle eingelegt werden kann, ohne, dass sie verrutscht.

Der Druck selbst ist jedes mal super sauber. Auch detaillierte Schwarz/Weiß-Fotos sehen super aus!

Der Akku hält bei mir einen ganzen Arbeitstag durch, liegt aber auch daran, dass ich nicht pausenlos drucke, sondern eher so alle ein bis zwei Stunden, wenn überhaupt.
Und, wenn ich über mein Macbook drucken möchte, muss der Drucker sowieso via USB-C-Kabel verbunden werden. Da wird der Akku nicht belastet.

Ich bin echt froh, diesen Drucker entdeckt zu haben und möchte ihn nicht mehr missen. Er ist ein guter Nachfolger für meinen alten Thermodrucker!

Unit came packaged well in Glossy retail boxing. Included the printer, a roll of paper, USB cord and a USB A to C adapter.

Read The Instructions is my first pint to make. It is Not intuitive to set-up like a typical plug and play printer. It IS Battery Powered. You can also power it from either power a laptop or external supply. There was a sticker by the USB port warning to not use a power supply with a greater than 5V output. I think this was warning to not use your high output laptop power supply with a USB C cord.

I used it with a WIN 11 Laptop and an Android Samsung S21FE phone. I could not seem to connect the laptop to it via Bluetooth, only via the USB cable. I had to go to the manufacturer's website and download a Windows driver. For the Android phone, you must first download the "Phomemo" App. The hitch is you can only print through that App and the phone does not see the printer in the normal "Print" dialogue.

The printed pages were clear and of good resolution. If you print more than one page, they will scroll together because the paper is like a fax machine and is a roll. You might be able to do a quick tear during the pause between pages but you better be paying attention and have cat like reflexes.

Overall it fills a niche of being lightweight and portable. Makes printing on the go easy BUT the trade-offs are rolled thermal paper that curls, not good options to get separate pages for a multipage document and no color. Long term I think the pages will not do much better than a fax machine, again because thermal paper images degrade quickly, especially with any heat. In a pinch, you would be glad to have it. Relying on it for daily productivity might be tough based on the outlined trade-offs.

Das Produkt wurde uns kostenfrei zum Test zur Verfügung gestellt. Der Preis zum Testzeitpunkt lag bei 130€. Die Lieferung erfolgte gewohnt schnell. Man erhält den länglichen Drucker (ca 26x8cm) von etwas über einem kg Gewicht, eine bereits eingelegte Thermopapierrolle mit Breite USLetter, ein sehr kurzes USB Kabel, mit dem man das Gerät auch stationär an einenLaptop oder PC anschließen kann.
Geöffnet wird der Drucker, in dem man beide Knöpfe auf der Vorderseite drückt, dann springt der Deckel auf, man entfernt das Schutzpapier und muss den Klebeverschluß der Thermopapierrolle ablösen, dann kann es auch schon fast losgehen. Getestet haben wir mit einem iPad und einem Samsung Tablet, somit können wir die Bedienbarkwit sowohl über iOS als auch Android bestätigen. Die benötigte App ist schnell geladen, Bluetooth am Tablet aktiviert, Gerät durch langes Drücken des On-Schalters auf der Oberseite starten, gewünschten Druck in der App auswählen und dann wird gedruckt. Die Auflösung mit 300DPI ist ausreichend für normale Schriftstücke, die sind gut lesbar, Tabellen werden sauber ausgedruckt, Grafiken sind gut erkennbar. Bilder haben wir mit dem Thermodrucker nicht gedruckt. Da liegt für uns jetzt nicht der Sinn eines portablen Thermodruckers.
Wenn das abgeräumt voll geladen ist (dauert ca 2h), wird eine Standby Zeit von 72h angegeben, wenn man ununterbrochen druckt, hält der Drucker bis zu 3h durch und ca 160 Druckseiten. Das haben wir nicht überprüft.
Gedruckt werden kann zum einen Thermopapier auf Rolle, aber über den Einzug auf der Rückseite auch Einzelblatt-, oder gefaltetes Endlospapier. Das Gerät beherrscht 5 verschiedene Formate, unter anderem auch DIN a4.
Zwei Rollen DIN A4 Thermopapier liegen zwischen 10 und 12€.
Wir waren wirklich skeptisch und anschließend absolut überrascht, wie schnell das Gerät eingerichtet war und wie gut es druckt. Das haben wir so nicht erwartet. Wir sind sehr begeistert.
