As other reviewers have mentioned, this computer is great if you want all the important ride/cardio figures to be simultaneously displayed. I purchased the computer first and foremost as a readout for my Polar HC10 heart rate sensor. To that end it works great - no drop outs (which occur frequently when the sensor is paired with my stationary bike's computer) and fast updates to readings. As expected there's some lag/smear of speed/distance/grade readings as you might expect from a GPS-based system, but if these things matter to you enough, you should be able to add external sensors. The backlight is a nice brightness, and the display is equally easy to read during both the day and night. Finally I can confirm, as other reviewers have extensively documented, that the instructions are pretty much worthless. If you're not the type of person who can figure out technical things without consulting a user's guide, then I'd suggest you consider another computer. Otherwise, this one's great.
The parcel arrived right on time, getting it mounted on the bike was a breeze; it's mounted on the stem, easy to read and easy to reach. Pairing it with the Garmin Cadence 2 work on the first try, then it was off on a short spin on our hilly 1.5 k loop. Reads the grade right from the start, same for the cadence.
No muss ... no fuss and the results look accurate. Now it's charging and the real test will be tomorrow's 40k ride.
More on that to follow.
The missing star? Has to wait for tomorrow's ride. BTW what's the "thickness" quality asking for?
Took it for that 40 kilometre ride, everything required in plain sight. Very minimal latency on the grades/climbs, the elevation data is spot on, the distances are correct.
On that plain sight; it should get even better when the "iGPSPORT Out-Front Bike Mount" arrives; the less distraction from traffic and road conditions the better.
Exporting the FIT files to the computer is easy and opening them with "whatever" program is no problem.
That one still missing star?
The user manual could definitely do with a re-write and expanded content e.g. explaining what precise functions the different screens have while riding and some of the icons could be larger, especially the record/pause icon!
Other than that it's very big bang for the buck, especially when on a "limited time" deal. :)
PS the "Map type: street" bullet point is incorrect! This unit does not display a map!
Set up of the computer is moderately easy, though the instructions are poorly translated into English. If you're tech inclined it's honestly not hard to figure it out. I did not try to use the phone app because of some security concerns. It is not necessary to use the app though.
Syncing to Strava can be done by uploading the .fit files from the desktop website. Very easy.
The GPS is pretty accurate, though sometimes the unit takes some time to find a signal even outside in open sky. Speed and distance can be tracked by GPS, but of you use an ANT+ speed sensor you can track distance and speed without a GPS signal. Make sure you set your tire circumference correctly on the computer or you'll get incorrect data.
As for the igsport50E, I found it very easy to set up although the manual, which I downloaded, lacked some information. In my case, I have the Giant Ant +system which connected without any issues. Enter your EXACT wheel size, not the one given in the manual. Also, the Giant computer mount that is necessary on MY bike, fit the igsport without any problem, so no changes required to get it to fit. I will say the mounts and rubber bands supplied are somewhat lacking.
Overall, I'm very happy so far with this unit, but there could have been a few bits of additional information, like actual directional heading, but that feature may be on more expensive versions. Overall I give it 4 stars.
UPDATE: Sometime in 2021, the iGSPORT company in China must have changed their agreement when downloading and installing or updating the software on a phone (and probably computer) requiring a lengthy read of the conditions which appear to be set by the Chinese government and also require access to photos and files. This is a cycle computer!! I refused to agree to this and so should any other buyers. I stopped using it and bought a Giant product. This is a shame, because the cycle computer itself is very good other than connection issues with my Samsung A20 phone. It connects without issue to other models.
Be cautious of this agreement.

Cateye has always been by go to as it’s pretty reliable and low maintenance.
When I bought my latest Trek FX3 I decided I 1) didn’t want little wires running all along my frame, and 2) wanted as much as possible to be displayed on ONE screen so that I wouldn’t have to be fiddling with my cycling computer when I should be just focused on riding.
My goal was to be able to see (clearly) on one screen:
* Current Speed
* Cadence
* Distance
* Heart Rate
* Elapsed time
* Clock
I had earlier tried mounting my mobile phone to the bike, but very quickly stopped. You cannot convince me that solidly attaching a $1,000 mobile phone to something that bounces and jostles its way down even the smoothest of bike trails is a good idea. These phones are way too fragile and sensitive to take that kind of abuse for long without glitching when you’re later using them for other every day tasks (I found this to start happening with mine).
I looked at the Bontrager and the Cateye computers and, while they did have wireless versions, both suffered from the same lack of displayed information.
Enter IGPSPORT IGS50E cycle computer.
It’s about half the length of a “max” or “plus” phone and three quarters the width and easily twice the thickness (more if you’re including the round mounting dock on the underside.
Its screen displays everything I want above PLUS things like the current hill grade, battery status, GPS status, lap number, ambient temperature and current mode (whether you’re tracking this part of the ride or paused).
I already had a Wahoo heart rate monitor and I had my bike outfitted with the Bontrager DuoTrap speed/cadence sensor as it can be easily integrated into the frame.
Everything works flawlessly together. Connection via ANT+ was trivial and the unit remembers these pairings across rides so there is no need to fiddle with it each time you want to get out on the trail / street.
The Li-ion battery means that I know that the unit stays charged between rides and that the battery will retain its capacity for a long, long time.
Charging via micro-USB means that I can start a ride with a full charge any time I want. The battery indicator gives me the confidence to know that I don’t need to (and don’t) top up all the time. I last charged this unit about 3 weeks ago and it’s still going strong.
Besides the main screen, there are “Average” and “Maximum” screens. There is plenty of information available there but, truth be told, I’m usually only interested in my average speed and heart rate.
There is a companion app. I’ve only used the iOS one. While you can have the IGS50E unit itself display in Metric or Imperial, good luck seeing anything but metric in the app. And if you go online and want to see imperial they seem to do a very rough conversion to metric and then convert it back again. Kind of like that telephone game so that’s a thing if you really like looking at things in imperial. Something like a 30 mile ride reports fine on the unit and in 3rd party apps but shows up as 29.1 miles on the IGPSPORT website. Likewise for altitude gain in feet.
I have my IGPSPORT app connected to Strava just fine and it reports correctly. I could see no way to connect it to iOS’ Health app directly so any information is coming by means of Strava and so doesn’t include HR data. If you want heart rate you need to be recording it with yet another app. I have an Apple watch so that’s good enough for me. But the Wahoo HR monitor has its own app that will talk directly to Apple’s Health app. I just haven’t tested to see if running the Wahoo app interferes with the HR unit connecting to the IGS50E computer.
OVERALL:
Based on other reviews here I’d suggest having the speed sensor to augment the GPS. For me the GPS was a nice-to-have as I am used to the direct sensor data. However I like the idea that I can just grab the unit and EASILY attach it to a different bike and get basic information (speed, gradient, distance, etc.). If that other bike happens to have ANT+ bluetooth sensors then so much the better.
The display is VERY easy to read when cycling. I’ve been using this for coming on 3 months now and have no serious complaints besides those that I mention above.
The price is very reasonable (About $90 on Amazon as I write this)
I would certainly buy this unit again and recommend it to anybody who appreciates having all their info up front and center while they ride.
