Full disclosure, I'm not paid for these reviews. They're simply a reflection of my honest experience with the product.
Right out of the box, Rowenta definitely lives up to its reputation here. The plastic feels sturdy and far from cheap, and the stainless steel soleplate is sleek and shiny. The steamer's size is larger than what I expected, but it's also surprisingly comfortable to hold in upright or in a downward position.
Performance-wise, the 1875 watts and 300 steam holes output blasted wrinkles away on my cotton garments in one swipe. I was very impressed! I tested it on a pair of jeans, a cargo pant, and a pair of linen and dress shirts. Performance was outstanding on all garments. To me, this outperformed my traditional iron in convenience and speed. However, for crisp dress shirts and pants, an iron remains unbeatable. I didn't experience any drips, which is one of the issues with many steamer brands. Beyond the convenience, I love how steam refreshes clothes without chemicals, perfect for delicate fabrics and those with sensitivities. It's a win-win for both convenience and health.
The steamer offers five steam settings, including a boost option for stubborn wrinkles, and continuous steaming for larger items. The microfiber and lint remover pads were a thoughtful addition, adding an extra layer of fabric care. The removable water tank provided ample steam time, enough for a few garments before needing a refill.
One thing to note is that this steamer isn't exactly compact. It's a bit bulky and definitely not something I'd pack for travel. However, if you're looking for a powerful and versatile steamer for home use, this could be a great option.
Overall, I'm really enjoying the Rowenta steamer. It heats up quickly, produces a powerful stream of steam, and does a great job of smoothing out wrinkles. The fact that I can use it as both a steamer and an iron makes it even more valuable to me. If you're in the market for a new steamer and don't mind the larger size, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try.
First off, it is important to read the instructions. It is not as intuitive as you think. While most steamers say to use distilled water, this one specifically says not to because it was designed to be used with untreated tap water. While they tell you not to use distilled water, it has directions for descaling it with vinegar and water.
When you first turn it on, it flips through the different modes. That confused me until I read the manual. When it is ready to use it stops flipping and allows you to choose one of four modes. There is also a boost. I liked the design of the steamer. It has a large base so it sits flat nicely. I was never worried about it toppling over. It has a nice grip so it is comfortable to hold. You activate it with a trigger which also has a trigger lock so you don’t have to keep holding the trigger down. The mode flashes when the trigger lock is engaged which is a good reminder. It has a long cord to extend its reach something missing on other steamers I have used. You can use it both vertically and horizontally as an iron. I found the performance to be very good and it was nice to use. I am still partial to irons but it works very well for a steamer. Having four modes to choose from plus a boost adds to its versatility. I have used different steamers over the years and so far this is the nicest one.
The only difference between the 3 in 1 and the 2 in 1 appears to be the lint remover which fits around the steam head. The two models have the same features and specifications and even share the same manual. While I could see the lint remover being useful (I have pants that attract cat hair), I don’t think that it worth double the price. Save your money and buy the 2 in 1 and then use those savings to buy a lint roller. Plus in my opinion, the 2 in 1 is a nicer colour. During the time I have had the steamers and I have both, I haven't had the need to use the lint remover.
I got the Rowenta Pure Force to see if I could replace the big unit with this much more compact option. The good news is - it actually outperforms our big steamer. I'm really impressed. Steam starts coming out much faster than on our old unit. Despite the water tank being part of the steamer, it's actually much easier to use and maneuver around the steamed garment (no long, stiff hose that always seems to be in the way). The amount of water in the tank is perfect for my needs - I can easily refresh my suit or dewrinke a few shirts.
Best part - the whole steamer fits on a shelf below our sink!
As far as negatives - the only one I have is that with a full water tank it is significantly heavier than just the wand of the full size unit. Not an issue for steaming a few things, but I'm sure for larger jobs it could be tiring.
Overall this is a great device, and I highly recommend it!
