I needed something to record notes on when I didn't have a paper & pen on me.
The size makes it easy to carry in purse or pocket. It comes with everything you need to use right out of box. Cables, headphones, a lanyard and instruction booklet. It has an adapter as well, headphone adapter too.
Right out of box, it was charged enough to use. There is only 1 button you need to use to work this recorder.
Slide one way to record, slide other to stop (& save your recordings).
When you first slide the button, it will be blue, then flash red 3 times, then no indicator on while recording. I don't really like that idea, as you don't know if it has "stopped" or not, or if the battery had died, you wouldn't know.
I'm thinking there is no remain on indicator, so it doesn't appear to be recording, depending on what purpose you are using this for.
But a "recording" indicator would have been great.
I have tested it on 3 separate occasions. While speaking to a family member we recorded that, and it picks up voices AND ambient noises around you. So, if you are wanting to record something, keep that in mind.
When you hook up to a computer, that is where you can control everything. Be sure to do this first, to set up the date and time. If not, the time/date of recording will not be accurate. How to set it up so voice activated recording starts. You can adjust mic level and the strength of output as well.
Honestly, I did not do anything with those settings, as I do not need those functions.
Only by connecting to computer (or phone), you can access all the recordings. They are stored by date/time. So make sure to set that first.
The playbacks are really great sounding (depending if a lot of background noise or not). But it picks up voices nicely and no muffled or crackling.
Overall, this is a great little recorder. I do not know how long battery life is, as I have not had to use it for anything like that, yet. Will update once I do.
Would recommend this for meetings or lectures.
Also, it can be used as a MP3 player (with only the provided cables/head phones), so you get that use out of this as well.
