Top critical review
3.0 out of 5 starsFirst came broken. Bad for gaming, good for photo editing. Recommend curved monitor instead.

My first one came broken out of the box, where the screen was flickering crazy with glitchy artifacts and vertical stripes flashing all over the place. Amazon was amazing with providing a quick replacement in less than a week. Assuming LG has competent quality-control, this monitor must've broke during the shipping process somehow, which doesn't spark much confidence about the build-quality of the internal components.
Broken monitor aside, when it does work, the monitor can produce some truly great images with a 1:2000 static contrast ratio. The blacks are quite deep in the middle after calibration, and colors are very vibrant and juicy in the middle of the screen. The off-axis angle viewing experience is very poor, which results in the left and right edges of the screen appearing washed. This is to be expected with TN and VA panel monitors. If you have money, I highly recommend getting a curved monitor for improved edge performance, as you can see from the photo of the monitor under very dark conditions.
Lastly, the GTG/G2G (gray to gray) performance is incredibly poor compared to my gaming TN monitor (I would give it 1 star in terms of motion blur performance). There is no black frames insertion option, resulting in HEAVY ghosting for 60fps content, which makes it less suitable for watching fast content and unsuitable for playing competitive games.
