3.0 out of 5 stars"Wide" is not wide enough
Reviewed in Canada on August 18, 2023
I bought this item mainly with the hope that the "wide" spacing of the outlets was actually enough to accomodate the group of wall warts powering my USB drives. Well, turns out that spacing is not quite wide enough and there are still unused outlets being blocked. The widest power cube this item will accommodate is 1-1/2 inches, many of mine are 2 inches, so be aware. Other observations:
Good - There are 2xUSB-A and 1xUSB-C charge ports; the power cord is plenty long; there are power outlets on 3 sides of the bar.
Poor - As mentioned, the power outlets are not spaced wide enough; there is no light to show that power is on/off; there is no contrasting mark on the power switch to show which position is on/off; there is no obvious circuit breaker unless it's part of the switch; there is no marking saying that there is power surge protection even though the advertising says there is.
If you listen very closely, as I just did, there is a low level cyclic whine coming off the unit - possibly the AC-DC converter that is feeding the USB charge ports. It's not overly loud and most people might not notice it, but it's there and is a possible source of EMI although I haven't done any tests to verify.
Altogether, not something I'd recommend for having any features better than a standard power bar except for having power points on the 3 sides and the USB charge ports.
