2.0 out of 5 starsWatch your volume control with HDMI

Been emailing back and forth with their "sales support / technical support" folks now for the better part of 3 weeks since using this monitor for the first time. As everyone can see by the screen shot, when the monitor is plugged in via HDMI, it maximizes the sound volume level once the connection to the monitor is made. They're claim is that when you unplug the HDMI plug while sound is playing, the sound will return to the original "laptop" setting. That may be the case, but in my experience I got a sound pop and before the sound could return to a normal level (vs. maximum) it blew out my laptop speaker. They're solution after 150$ to repair my laptop is to offer me a 30$ discount off another product in their "store". I do not need another monitor, I just need some reimbursement for the repair. Their claim continues after "multiple tests" that the monitor shouldn't do that, well, it did! But yet, they're not willing to budge on the cause of my issue other than "it shouldn't do that". Anyway. Since I'm about to get completely hosed on this, might as well make others aware of the potential issue with sound and HDMI connection. Just be sure you transfer the sound back using your sound selection options vs. just yanking out the HDMI while I guess. What more can I do to explain my situation and basically get a run-around from what appears to be a variety of representatives playing "stupid". I actually like the monitor, it works well and although the resolution isn't quite what they predicted, it's still pretty good for the money and portability. FYI - it's not 60Hz though like others have said, it's only 30Hz.
