Mochila de calidad, pero pequeña la de la camara

Hola Amazoners, se trata de una mochila de calidad, un diseño con multiples usos practicos. Pero con un gran problema para fotografos con camaras profesionales con empuñadura. En la mochila interior, la que se puede sacar de la mochila grande... No cabe montada. Hay que llevarla desmontada.

Esa idea es brillante, pero esa mochila interior es pequeña. Yo compre la mochila de 32 L, pero creo que esa mochila interior debe ser igual en el tamaño de 24 L.

Una lastima, pues he tenido que devolverla.

Para todo el resto, me parece muy practica y bien diseñada. Cierto es que las cremalleras, se atascan un poco. Yo venia de una Lowepro, que vale menos de la mitad de esta.... y tengo que seguir buscando otra mochila.

Solo te la recomiendo, para gente que no tenga camaras profesionales, que sean mas pequeñas. El material que usan en la mochila tiene buena textura, todo se ve de calidad, en general. Solo la he podido ver unas horas hasta que decidi devolverla.

Luego estuve leyendo opiniones en otros idiomas y muchos opinan como yo. Tuve que haberle dedicado tiempo a leer esas reseñas. En fin, leccion aprendida.

Espero que te haya sido util mi opinion.

The materials were a good quality and it had the right amount of pockets and nooks and crannies. But the issue is the backpack doesn’t hold its shape so once you put stuff in it, it just starts looking lopsided.

Very heavy Camera Pod could not configure for my equipment

Very sturdy, and rugged, lots of seemingly useful photography features. Bought to haul stuff I needed in the airplane as personal item, with the intention of then doing daily tours with just camera pod.

In the end, it was just too heavy empty for what I was going to hold, nor was it large enough. I just used and an unstructured Patagonia daypack with some generic camera gear inserts from either Amazon or ebay to pad the bottom and give me some compartments to hold lenses, batteries, etc. I then used a separate shoulder bag that I had to pack separately for a much more flexible daily touring set up.

I really wanted the Thule to work, given its premium price.

Disappointing

Pros: I love the concept of the removable camera cube that you can double as a sling bag. I searched high and low and did not find another bag that did anything like this and provided the same amount of space for your gear, and especially not in the cool form of a sling bag. You can literally strap it to your chest while wearing the backpack and it would just count as a personal item when traveling. Hence you can pack most if not all of your backpack with clothes while still keeping your camera gear in your "personal item sling bag." I know someone ppl would just rather buy a huge 45L carry on, but who wants to carry a bulky bag with them when they arrive at their destination. The thule convert on it's own is a fine daypack.

Cons: If you look closely at the photos on the website, which I did not do, you'll see that where the strap connects to the camera cube bag there is just a small strip of fabric. Are you freaking kidding me?!?!? Almost $300 for a bag and they can't make a connector more sturdy than that?!? Imagine putting 4 thousand dollars worth of gear in this bag and the only thing keeping it from crashing into the ground is a thin strip of fabric maybe 1/4" wide at most. Thule has great customer service, but that's only for their bags. They're not going replace all my damaged gear when it falls on the ground. Another thing about the sling bag cube I wanted to mention is that it's not nearly as roomy as the photos make it seem. In it you see a dslr with a large L lens being neatly placed inside, but when i tried that i had to jam it in and it looked nothing like the photo. The dividers were bent and twisted and accessing and stowing away a a dslr through the side side panel would not be convenient, which defeats the whole purpose of side access.

The padded back panel is made of a nice material, but it's thinly padded. if you don't think that will bother you with a max load then this shouldn't be an issue for you. I think maybe this is up to personal preference. When you place a laptop in the back panel it can get kind of stiff. There's also no airflow because it's completely flat. Again, for nearly $300 I think a little more forethought into comfort should have been a consideration.

works well as a flexible backpack, but if you are looking for a camera backpack, you will have to compromise. i see this best as a traveling backpack that will allow for enough room for overnight clothing change and you can take your laptop, etc. not a business pack, nor a photo pack. just in the middle somewhere. needs a built in rain protector.

For a number of years I’ve been drawn to Thule laptop bags and sleeves. They always look like they are made with quality and function in mind. Being a photographer, I was interested in this camera bag because of Thule’s name being on it. As I’ve tested it out, I have made several observances.

Not a standard camera bag - The bag is designed as a 3-in-1 pack. It does have the camera bag insert that is removable, but it also has space for personal items as well as a laptop and tablet. With most camera bags I’ve tried, the main compartment is 100% dedicated to the camera and its accessories. While I appreciate the versatility of the bag, it would be nice to have a tad bit more space specifically for the camera.

Weight - The bag is noticeably heavy when it’s empty. According to its specs, the bag is 4.14 pounds without anything in it. That doesn’t seem to be too far off other camera bags of this size, but it ‘feels’ heavy. That’s a bit of a problem since it’s designed to hold gear. You want a backpack to be as light as possible when it’s empty.

Price - While a $250 price tag might seem high, it’s in line with other camera backpacks of this size. I think it’s a justified expense for the quality you get.
Padding and back support - When I shop for camera backpacks, I try to look for ones that have good, cushioned shoulder straps and solid back support. This backpack has very flat cushions in the straps and while the back has a soft, but solid plate. There is a waist strap (hidden, tucked away in the back panel), but it, too, is a bit flat. With that in mind, it's hard for me to imagine taking this on a long trek.

With those observances being made, I do have to say that I like the backpack quite a lot. It does seem to be very durable and when you remove the camera pod, it has a very interesting structure for packing. I’d actually love to use this as a carry-on backpack on an airplane because the camera pod could be removed and used as the ‘personal item’ that airlines typically allow in addition to a carry-on. I also like that this is really designed for ‘essentials’ and nothing more. You have room to fit a camera body with a lens attached and maybe one other lens or a flash in the camera pod. The rest of the bag can be used for other essential items like extra socks, a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, or maybe a bit of food. I could see this being a useful daypack for hiking, but the shoulder straps just don’t have enough padding for heavy hiking or even a ton of weight in the backpack.

A well made but over-engineered bag

I love Thule products with a passion, but while playing around with this backpack I couldn't help but think of Ian Malcolm's warning from Jurassic Park: "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should."

This is an extremely well made bag. If you ever fall off a cliff, tumble 10 feet and then snag on a branch by the strap of your backpack you'll be glad you invested in Thule, because this thing will never break. It feels like it's woven with steel. There are a multitude of pockets. I count 9 external pockets altogether if you include the open slots where you can stash a bottle of water, but this is the kind of bag with pockets you could overlook. I wouldn't be surprised if someone pointed out a few more that I missed.

The problem I have with this bag stems from the removeable camera pod, which takes up around half of the space in the main compartment (or maybe a third if you extend the rolltop in the main compartment). The camera pod is... well, let's say it's cleverly designed. It's an entirely separate bag with its own strap tucked away in a pocket, and there's enough space within for an SLR and a few lenses. It's designed so that when it's contained within the main bag it becomes part of it, with all of the pockets accessible by way of tucking the flaps of the camera pod into the flaps of the pockets in the main bag. I know that sounds like jibberish, but it makes sense when you see it.

The problem here is *bulk*. In achieving this clever design Thule have eaten up the space of the bottom half of the bag with a compartment maybe two thirds the size they could free up by simply building in foam dividers rather than including a removable bag, and they've increased the weight in the deal. It's clever, of course, and there may be a big market for this kind of nested doll style of thing, but to me it feels clunky and over-engineered.

When you throw in the fact that this bag is made from a very sturdy and unforgiving material that isn't all that malleable I find it a little awkward to access and use everything in the lower half, and I wish it was a little more simple. The top half is great, though, and I love the utility of rolltops.
