Wow.
I never write product reviews for stuff. Seriously. I've been buying all sorts of things off of Amazon during the pandemic (and prior) and I just don't bother to write product reviews.
So, it says something that I'm writing something here and now eh?
We purchased the 42-70" flat screen mount (for up to 16" studs) and, to be honest, we weren't sure what to expect. I mean, you do what research you can; you read the reviews, you look at the specs etc. and you hope you made the right decision. The Mounting Dream Wall Mount was definitely the right decision!
Firstly, the packaging was compact (that's great!!) - sure it's a bit heavy; it's meant to support up to 100lbs of TV after all and it's all metal save for the plastic/ABS "pads" that go onto the mounting plate. The construction is solid and the multitude of parts AND how they're identified made following the instructions very easy.
The instructions themselves were pretty plain and easy to follow but you should ensure you read them thoroughly - you are, after all, putting your television set on the wall and if you don't want that tv to fall off said wall, you best read the instructions!!
One thing I found "cute" but awesome was the extremely small bubble level that was included in the box!! We have a small six inch bubble level but Mounting Dream includes one that's about two inches!! They thought of that when they put this package together which is great!
We mounted the metal brackets to our old (2008 is old now???) LG 47" TV and then followed the instructions to mount the plate mechanism to the wall. Our home was built in 1952 and the studs were 16" on center in our home so we had no issues (PRO TIP: Get a stud finder and MEASURE the studs in your home before purchasing this mounting set blindly. Some homes may have 12" on center and some 18" on center and even others may have 24" on center.... measure your studs before you buy! )
The installation, ensuring things were level, studs were located properly, putting the bracket on the wall and putting the TV onto the mount, took about 1.5 hours - it could be done faster but I was taking time and care. You're drilling into the wall and, you're basically, going in "blind" per se. Our walls are plaster lathe on top of wood studs so we were good. Same could be said for drywall and wood studs.
PRO TIP: if you're going to mount this onto concrete (which you can do) proper concrete anchors are NOT included in this set. Anchors (or wall plugs) that allow the screws to be securely mounted into concrete need to be purchased separately and Mounting Dream does offer a support phone line to call them if you need to find out the specific concrete anchors you require.
Lastly, this was a more "expensive" option for us ($64.00 approx CDN plus taxes) but about 5 years ago we purchased another brand for our TV in our basement and it was more than DOUBLE the price and not nearly as "solid" as this set. If you're prepared, you have the tools, you know the wall you're going to mount the TV on, then you'll have no qualms making the Mounting Dream your purchase!!
