2.0 out of 5 starsRing Is Unclear As To What Actually Happens When/If You Press The Panic Button
Reviewed in Canada on December 10, 2021
I have been quite happy with all of my other Ring alarm purchases. The whole system is simple and robust. The panic button itself looks well made and aligns with all of the other Ring Alarm gear. But the value in purchasing a 'Panic Button' is the confidence you have in what actually happens if you need to use it (if you are subscribed to professional monitoring through Ring) . There is conflicting information from Ring on what actually happens if you were to press this button (if you are subscribed to professional monitoring): some places it says that authorities will be notified if the button is pressed (this is ideal and the only way a panic button should work) and other places it seems to allude that Ring will try and call you first (if true this is disappointing and it negates almost all of the value in a panic button). Without any certainty from Ring on this question I cannot have certainty in the actual panic button. Ring, please make it ultra-clear as to what happens if/when this button is pressed! I don't want someone in a call-centre half a continent away allowed to make a judgement call as to how seriously they should consider an incoming panic button notice. Police should be alerted instantly, always. Let me pay the fines if it is a false alarm.
