3.0 out of 5 starsBlue Yeti X Not for Mac OS Big Sur and M1 Chip
Reviewed in Canada on April 10, 2021
Had to search online forums to find out why I kept getting the following message while attempting to record in GarageBand: "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI."
I have a new MacBook Air, and yes, lots of people are having this same problem. I tried everything. After much frustration, and going back to various forums I saw that someone mentioned the only way to fix the problem was to ensure that the mic was plugged into your computer BEFORE turning the computer on. I tried that, and it actually worked. However, unless you have a desktop setup and plan to leave the mic permanently plugged in, this solution is completely impractical. For laptop users, having to shutdown, plug in, and reboot every time you want to do some recording, well... no thanks.
Ironically, the older model Blue Yeti works just fine as a plug and play with Mac OS Big Sur and M1 chip. During my attempts to create recordings with both mics for sound comparison, and the Yeti X continually failing, I plugged and unplugged both numerous times with my computer on. The Blue Yeti worked like a charm every time.
There were numerous reasons why I really wanted the Yeti X, including specs, Logitech software, and improved design. It was a huge disappointment to have to make the decision to return it.
p.s. It has been suggested that Blue needs to update software and drivers for the Yeti X to be compatible with Mac OS Big Sur and the M1 chip, but some customers have reported that Blue has said the problem is not from their end.
