I recently purchased the Intex Excursion 4 boat as a cheaper alternative to expensive boats and it has exceeded my expectations. This robust inflatable boat is not only cost-effective but also versatile, making it an ideal choice for both fishing expeditions and leisurely water outings with loved ones.
The Excursion 4 can comfortably accommodate four adults and is constructed from puncture-resistant PVC vinyl. It spans 10.3 feet in length and 5.4 feet in width and tips the scales at 44 pounds when fully inflated. Despite its substantial size, it’s remarkably light and easy to transport to the water. Boston valves ensure quick inflation and deflation. Two grab handles on each hand and an all-around grab line comes very handy. There is even a motor mount fitting but the mount is not included.
The boat feels strong and durable. The construction feels heavy duty and it features sturdy I-beam floor which provides rigidity to the floor. It also boasts three air chambers, which enhance the boat’s enhancing the boat’s buoyancy and ensure safety even if one of the chambers deflates.
In terms of comfort, the Excursion 4 is equipped with two inflatable and adjustable seats with backrests. It also features built-in fishing rod holders, making it an excellent option for fishing enthusiasts. There is also a gear pouch, repair kit and carry bag for transportation. Pump is included but I strongly recommend getting electric pump for effortless inflation and deflation.
It’s important to mention that the oars included with the boat could use some enhancements. They are considerably basic, which was expected at the price point. They are okay for recreational use but not suitable for extended periods of use. I would recommend getting a small motor (Max. 1.5 HP) for extended use.
In summary, the Intex Excursion 4 boat delivers outstanding value for money. It’s a reliable, durable, and fun way to enjoy the water. Despite a few minor shortcomings, I’m convinced it’s a sound investment for anyone in search of an economical inflatable boat. My primary usage is taking it to a calm lake with family, playing games, having some tasty food, and relaxing and reading books. Excursion 4 is a great balance of quality features and cost. It offers a range of high-quality features at a price point that doesn’t break the bank, making it excellent value for money.
