5.0 out of 5 starsRecommended... Sharpie:1, G2: 0

These are great. I have used the same papermate pen for years and recently have been doing a shoot-out that I narrowed down to this pen vs the popular pilot g2. The sharpie pen has many pros: it writes smooth (almost too smooth actually, you only need a light touch, my previous pen required some effort, so this is taking me some adjusting, however, not a fault), the ink does not bleed (I held the tip to paper for 10 seconds and the dot was only slightly visible on the other side of the page), the ink dries fast, much faster than a Pilot G2 (if you write quick notes and quickly close your book up, the G2 will bleed onto the closing page) the sharpie fully dries in about one second (closing any sooner will show a little on the closing page... it's going to be pretty hard to beat that), also for smudging with your finger, again the Sharpie dries way faster than the G2. The G2 is a darker black ink than the Sharpie, and for me, that's the only place the G2 beats this pen. The sharpie seems capable of writing on any surface. It is very light, 8 grams vs 14 grams on the G2. I cannot comment on longevity, however I will dedicate one pen to a specific book and report back when it runs dry. Also, the sharpie is solid, there are no parts that shake about (unlike the g2 that rattles like a baby's toy).
