5.0 out of 5 starsDuskwalker Brides 3: How to Seduce Your Mavka

A Soul to Touch is book 3 in the Duskwalker Bride series.
Mayumi is a strong, independent, pretty sure neurodivergent, ex-Demonslayer, Monster Loving, but lonely FMC.
Faunus is our resident Duskwalker with a cat skull, ram horns, and a life threatening crack in his skull (see events in Book 2).
Themes you will find in this book: Asian representation, past trauma (Faunus), death of family members (Mayumi), forced proximity (snow storm!), consent, neurodivergence or introverted character (Mayumi hates prolonged contact or exposure to other people, it makes her skin crawl), and proud Monster Loving (Mayumi has zero qualms about being attracted to Faunus).
Despite hating being referred to as a cat, Faunas actually does have a lot of cat-like tendencies (spoiler: it's actually PTSD). And Mayumi is quite willing to bond her soul to Faunus.
I loved everything about this book; I love the world that Opal has created. We see more of how the humans live outside of the Veil. We learn more about The Spirit of the Void (daddy to the Duskwalkers) and The Witch Owl (mommy to the Duskwalkers). I would love one day for Opal to write a novella of the 3 Duskwalkers and their brides interacting, because it looks like everyone is gravitating back to the Veil (safety in numbers); it would be great to see how the families come together. I need to see Orpheus and Magnar teaching Faunus how to build a house, and Reia and Delora teaching Mayumi how to garden in The Veil.
Again, 5/5. Love the spice, love the story, love the world. Can't wait for Book 4!
