Every year around this time I look for a "Christmas story" to jump start my holiday spirit. This year, one of my favourite authors, Elin Hilderbrand , has supplied me with just the book. Not only does it take place at Christmas but the setting is Nantucket Island, a place I would love to visit during the holiday season- it sounds magical. We are introduced to the dysfuntional Quinn family, who gather at the Winter Street Inn, owned by Kelly Quinn, the family patriarch. The story focuses on the brief period from December 23rd to Christmas night, which is my problem with the book. At 246 pages it is a tease. The characters and their stories have much more to offer, and we are left hanging on the final page with so many story lines left unresolved.. Perhaps Ms. Hilderbrand plans a sequel or at least a follow up novel for next Christmas.
