Great Budget Priced Guitar
This is a great value priced guitar. I cut the strings off, lemon oiled the fretboard until it was a dark, luscious color, threw some Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings on, adjusted the bridge height, and was off to the races that quickly. This, and its 12-string brother, have become my two favorite guitars out of the ten I own. Why these two? It's the hollow-body aspect. The guitars are so light when compared to my B.B. Rich - Eagle, or Epiphone - Les Paul, that my shoulder no longer pains me as quickly. This is a good thing because all I want to do is rock out!

I received this guitar in nothing more than a one layer cardboard box. Believe it or not, it was in perfect shape out of the box. This guitar is amazing. The neck is straight. The action was perfect (low) out of the box (exactly as I use to set action on my other guitars: at 12 fret => high E =1mm ; low E : 1.5mm). Intonation right on pitch. I changed string from 10’s to 9’s and intonation is still right on. Truss rod works fine but anyway no adjustment was needed. Bridge pickup = 12.5 ohm, and neck pickup = 9.5 ohm. Both pickups sound great. This guitar has a very good sustain. Maybe because of the wraparound bridge. I you prefer bigger strings, bigger action or bigger neck relief no problem. There is room to adjust any settings (intonation, truss rod, action). Nut slots are a bit tight for 10’s but perfect with 9’s. Let me tell you, QA guys at IYV know how to setup guitars. The fretboard edges are slightly rounded and make the playing very confortable. Fretwork is perfect. No high spots. Fret ends well dressed. This guitar is amazing. So... I polished the frets, oiled fretboard, put the strings, clean the guitar and... rock on! This IYV can proudly stand beside my Strat, Jaguar, Ibanez, Les Paul. 260$ incredible. Good job IYV 👍

Set up the neck and this is one of the best deals there is. It sounds a little ‘tinny’ to me, but I play with VERY light strings. Mine arrived with a small crack in the lacquer by the f-hole, and it has some white residue (that wiped off). Lightest electric I’ve played, and it plays well.
Ok… I’ve played this for a couple months now. And the verdict is:
It’s fabulous. Extremely easy to play with light strings, but you need to be more precise so as not to over-bend notes. I’d buy this again in a heartbeat. I might just buy another one to sit in my office.

I am really impressed with this guitar. It is a great value for the money. It looks great, neck feels great and I like the light weight of the guitar. Out of the box there was little buzz on the A and D strings. This was easily fixed by raising the bridge very little. The guitar still has low action. Love this guitar and will by another IYV in the near future.

Shipping was fast, came 5 days early. Great sound both plugged in and unplugged. The neck feels great no edges to cut fingers from fret edges. A basic setup was needed, truss rod and action needed to be set. Plays very well with very low action. I could use a new set of strings as the ones that ship on it I am not a fan of. Overall excellent little guitar for a Beginner or an intermediate guitar player.

This guitar looks good, mine had very minor cosmetic flaws that literally can be buffed out. The action out of the box was high for me, once I lowered it, it was quite nice. For a wrap tailpiece the intonation is quite good! The hardware is cheap AF, but you get what you pay for…where this guitar really lacks is the pickups! I know how to professionally set up guitars and as far as playability goes, not bad at all once set up properly…however, it does retain a “cheap” feel to it, physically and sonically, and I don’t mean inexpensive, I mean cheap! As much as I could get it set up to play well, it still felt somewhat like a toy in my hands and to my ears, definitely not something a gigging pro would ever play, but for the price, it’s a nice entry level option!

The specific guitar I received is fantastic. No fret sprout, no sharp edges. Fret work is on par with guitars that run into 1K. The nut is cut nicely and does not bind the strings and the tuners hold tune, work well and feel well made. The bridge set up intonates very good out of the box and action was set up low. The finish is great. The stock pickups sound fine, so I would not rush to replace them. I honestly don't know what more anyone could expect at this price point.

Looks great, nice inlays. This is not a real accoustic guitar. Semi style hollow body, very lightweight. Cheap strings go over the bridge, not great, cheap tuners, pickups. Minor paint defects, too small to affect looks. Price is too high, I paid $539.38 three weeks ago. Now its $478.82. My advice is wait till June., then maybe the price will be lower. The other Iyv guitars are all $300. I got screwed by seller with amazons help. Price fixing. Will not buy from amazon or this seller.

I was really surprised at how good this guitar is, given that it is around 280 dollars. I changed the tuners to Wilkinson ez lock tuners it stays in tune pretty well now. The nut while cut well was not glued in at the factory. I'm going to change it for a Tusq nut later on. Strings that come with the guitar are no good. Changed for elixir .10's . Frets and fretboard were rough . Used scotchbright pads for the frets followed by Frine fret polish and f-one oil for the board and it plays quite well now and it had no fret sprout. Lowered the bridge too. Pickups are ok . Switch seems like a cheap one so when it eventually goes I might change the pickups then. The finish is pretty great only a couple of very minor blemishes : they could probably be buffed out . A little buffing compound on the end of the neck and the f-holes. I'm used to very thin necks on my guitars and this one is thicker but not chunky..Very comfortable. Thanks IYV.

Hello everyone.
First of all, let us get this out of the way. When someone purchases a guitar (whether it is used, refurbished, displayed model, with minor imperfection, or a new one) at some point you are going to set the action, set the intonation, treat the fret board, file the fret ends, replace/modify the knobs/switches/bridge/strings/pickups/neck/etc. to your preference.
It is no difference when you buy your vehicle. Eventually, you are going to change/add/replace/modify items on your vehicle to your liking. And that is fine. With that said, please do not count these components as a negative criticism towards these guitars.
Let us just focus on the guitar itself. With minor tuning and neck adjustments, these guitars are ready to play right out of the box. As you know, minor tuning and neck adjustments are common with any guitar you purchase.
The finish, quality, and construction of these guitars are awesome. The headstock is eye-catching. The neck is straight. The frets do not have dents/divots and are smooth (no sharp edges). The fret board is fine. The body is beautiful. The joints/seems are connected to satisfactory. The hardware (pickup selector or switch/output or input jack/volume & tone knobs or controls/bridge/pickups/pick guard/tuners/electronics/screws/nuts/strap buttons/fret or inlay markers/fret nut) are nice, functional, and tight.
There may be some small blemishes or cloudy finishes here and there, fret board might have some kind of dye on it, but nothing really significant that would cause you NOT to play the guitar immediately.
I’ve made NO modifications or changed any components on this guitar and had no major issue with feedback noise, guitar getting out of tune from hours of play, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. Again, everyone has their option on what they consider feedback, guitar out of tune, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. And that is okay. It also varies on the equipment (amps/stacks/pedals/cables/etc.) you use and how you play these guitars.
I did notice the item is listed as “ivy,” but the head stock is listed as “IYV.”
In conclusion, these guitars are attractive, feel great, look fabulous, sound terrific, entice you to play them and definitely fun to play.
I am sold, and I am a HUGE fan of the IYV Guitars! I wished I could have purchased the earlier models when they first came out. If I had the money, I would buy all the IYV models.
For an electric guitar under $200.00 and with no shipping fees, these guitars are an excellent investment! I will say it again. Not only are these guitars gorgeous, but they are also a pleasure to play.
I hope IYV will continue to produce new models or have older models available because I am excited in purchasing them in the future.
Thank you IYV Guitar company/staff for producing this magnificent product!

No pesa nada. 100% recomendable suena muy bien

Absolutely phenomenal guitar for the price!
Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2023Verified Purchase
Just wow! What an absolutely phenomenal guitar for the price. I actually wasn't planning on buying a guitar when I purchased this. I found it on sale for $167. I was looking for a hollow-body guitar but was just window shopping. I was planning on spending A LOT MORE MONEY. When I saw the reviews for this and the price, I decided to take a chance. Man, I am not disappointed.
I'm going to start off like so many other reviews and say, it needs a little set up work out of the box. It played OK out of the box, especially for the price, but it needed some tweaking. If this is your first guitar, do yourself a favor and get it set up properly!
If you know how to do your own setup work, don't hesitate, this guitar is awesome. If you don't do your own setup work you can always learn on Youtube. Otherwise, spend an extra $50 to $75 and get it set up at your local guitar store. Once this thing is set up properly you won't believe how nice this thing plays.
The first thing I adjusted was the truss rod. The neck was loose, and I've read several reviews stating the same. Once I got the neck adjusted it was like a completely different guitar.
Once the neck was straightened out, I replaced the factory strings with some Fender 250s. The factory strings are OK and sound great. The Fender strings changed the sound up a bit and gave me a little better action too.
I haven't made many bridge adjustments yet, but I'm also planning on doing some bridge tweaking and lowering the action a bit. The action is a little high for my tastes out of the box. I didn't make many adjustments because I was playing slide/bottleneck guitar with it when I first got it. Now that I have it in standard tuning and playing more fingerpicking and traditional playing, I'm going to lower the action a bit.
I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH! Once you make a couple of adjustments to this guitar, you'd never know you paid under $200 for the thing. It just plays great. It just has the look, feel, and sound of a much more expensive guitar.
None of the parts really feel cheap. Pickups have decent sound. I'm just playing through a $40 sawtooth practice amp. The tuning pegs rotate smoothly. THE GUITAR STAYS IN TUNE.
I love the ivy neck inlays. I can't believe how beautiful the guitar looks. My friends can't believe I bought it for $167. It plays and sounds like a guitar which would be much more expensive.
I'd honestly be shocked if you could find a better guitar in this price range. Now I can take the money I saved on this and buy a nice resonator guitar. If IYV made resonators, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
The fit and finish is OK. The paint looks great but there probably will be blemishes. I found a run by the sound hole, but nothing major or super noticeable. I'll take a couple imperfections in the paint considering how well this thing plays and sounds.
I really love this guitar for the price. I don't think you can find anything better in the under $300 range.
