It’s actually quite a solid keyboard for what it is. When opened it softly locks so won’t fold easily if you have it sitting on your lap or an uneven surface. The construction is also quite solid with a metal backing. Much better quality than I expected.
I purchased the keyboard mainly to use with my PS5 for games that have an in-game chat or anything else I need to type. I didn’t want another massive keyboard laying around since I would only use it once in a while. It connects instantly and works flawlessly. You can pair it with 3 devices as well and it switches seamlessly with the dedicate Bluetooth buttons for each. I’ve used it on PS5, Mac, Windows and iPad/iPhone.
I had also needed a simple keyboard to connect to a Mac I use as a server so is only accessed sometimes and also for a Mac I use on a TV in my bedroom. In both cases I again didn’t want yet another dedicated keyboard laying around for every device and didn’t want to have to pair a single keyboard every time I want to use it or worse a wired keyboard.
I hadn’t purchased this keyboard for this purpose exactly but turns out it was exactly what I needed. It’s so small you can just tuck it away until needed and then you just hit the Bluetooth button for the device you want. No more hunting down keyboards to temporarily connect. It also remembers the last device you used so you only need to use the Bluetooth switch if you’re using a different device. Often times I’ll use it for the PS5 and then take it with me to my bed so I can navigate my Mac and be utterly lazy laying down, never having to move.
Functionally the device switching is probably one of the key selling points for me but also the design and keyboard layout seems better than others I’ve tried. The folds are in a good place and are not noticeable when opened. The key spacing takes a bit of getting used to but is very usable. If you type properly(without looking at the keyboard) you just have to check the keys the first few times to train your fingers not to reach so far. Took me about 20 mins to get used to it.
The trackpad is also cool to have and what made it key to being a solution for my Mac. It’s very tiny but again very usable for what it is. I’d recommend increasing the trackpad movement speed in the Mac settings so you can get across the whole screen on such a small pad but once you do it’s perfect for light use. I wouldn’t recommend for every day, heavy use but for my use case this is absolutely perfect.
I have so much tech cluttering my space so this keyboard was a lifesaver in that sense. So convenient and takes up so little space I almost forget I have it sometimes. This is probably for a very niche market but if you need a temporary, multi device mini solution this is a great keyboard. If you’ve been on the fence like I was and can afford the extra cost just get this one and save yourself the headache of other less than stellar tech that barely functions. You will just end up spending more buying multiple till you find one that actually works.
This keyboard is really good. I've been using folding keyboards for well over a decade, and this is one of the nicest I've had. It is light, relatively strong, pairs easily and switches between devices quickly and well. The trackpad is surprisingly useful for working with my phone, and I sometimes set up a laptop (windows) and phone (android) beside one another use the iClever keyboard to switch back and forth between them by pushing the buttons above the trackpad. I've also discovered that, with a bit of effort, I can get the keyboard to pair with my kobo e-reader (Clara 2e), which is great for adding annotations on the go.
Some reviewers have noted that the keyboard is fragile and prone to breaking when bent or crushed. I think this is a fair comment, but should be set in context. Folding keyboards are always pretty fragile. They are complex, mechanical devices which must be very light so as to be portable, and also _fold_. This is really not easy, and the iClever BK08 does a pretty darned good job of it. In its folded state, all the components are completely contained within a plastic and metal shell: there are no bits sticking out where they can catch on a pocket or the lining of a bag.
The ribbon cables, which transmit power and data from one part of the keyboard to another, are the most fragile part of most folding keyboards. In some keyboards, these cables are exposed when the unit is folded, meaning they can be pressed, and eventually broken, by one's pocket or bag. In the BK08, hinged plastic caps cover the ribbon cables when the unit is folded, and act as feet when unfolded. Unless one actually half-folds the keyboard and sticks something inside the hinge, they seem unlikely to be damaged by direct contact (although they will, obviously, still eventually wear out from being flexed while the unit folds and unfolds).
I've tried two of these keyboards now (as mentioned above, the first was faulty) and the hand-feel of the keys was slightly different in each of them. Both of them were pretty good. I can type quickly and accurately, with good tactile feedback. The keys are relatively quiet. As expected, with a folding keyboard, the 'travel' of the keys (how far they move when depressed) is pretty short. That's the nature of folding keyboards generally, and the BK08 does a good job for the genre.
So those are the good points: I do have a few quibbles, for which I'm knocking off a star.
- The keyboard doesn't lock open. This means that you can't type in your lap, unless you have a very narrow lap. The two hinged sides are, likewise, on a somewhat flexible hinge which other people report is prone to eventually breaking if one uses it off a tabletop.
- While, in its closed condition, there are no bits sticking out to catch and break, it doesn't come with a strong case like some other keyboards do. The box includes a cloth, draw-string bag for carrying the keyboard, which is... better than nothing, I guess. But you'll want to get a padded slip, or to put it in a relatively protected bag pocket. I would not be comfortable carrying this keyboard, unprotected, in the pocket of my trousers.
- I have a few small gripes about the layout of the keys. Folding and portable keyboards often make compromises with their keyboard layouts, so make of this what you will. I was particularly annoyed, though, by the placement of the apostrophe/quote key, which is above "enter". This is a key I use a lot ("I'm, it's, etc"), and every time I go back to this keyboard after using another, I find myself hitting "enter" (and sometimes inadvertently sending messages!) when I want to use a contraction, indicate possession, or write a direct quotation.
- The main body of the keyboard is metal, but the hinged end-pieces (which take quite a lot of stress) are made of a rather fragile-feeling plastic. I'm not sure why they'd make this design choice, and my intuition is that they'd be stronger and more resilient if they were metal also.
- The replacement keyboard, that iClever sent to me, doesn't double letters with nearly the frequency that the faulty unit I first received does. Nevertheless, it still occasionally happens. I've not had this problem with other bluetooth keyboards, and I'm not sure why this is a problem with the BK08.
- In order to unfold the keyboard, one has to flip down some little clicky feet on either end of the unit. This is _fine_, I guess. It's much easier and more intuitive than I thought it would be. Still, I think that streamlined, fixed feet would have been better.
So those are my gripes and quibbles. I want to emphasise, though, that my overall impression of the keyboard is very positive. It feels sold (for a folding keyboard), types relatively well (for a folding keyboard), I've yet to run down the battery with regular use, and it has a really useful trackpad and easy switching feature which makes it a handy portable office device as well as a keyboard for my smartphone. If you're looking for a mid-priced folding keyboard, I'd heartily recommend it.
Far easier to use than the screen keyboard. Quite excellent!
*I will note that I got the first keyboard and it would double type the letters "d" and "e". I contacted the seller, iClever, and they immediately responded. I did some troubleshooting, which did not work. They sent me a new keyboard and it works!

There are some really good things about this keyboard.
DEFINITE PROS:
• compact (easy to carry)
• lightweight
• the trackpad is easier to use than some others I've tried
There are a few inconveniences.
DEFINITE CONS:
• some keys are in the "wrong" place
• does not pair well with an iPhone
• not steady (a bit wobbly when using)
There are some things that worry me.
POTENTIAL CONS:
• I'm not sure how sturdy this keyboard is
• I'm going to keep an eye on the pairing, as it seems it could be a bit off (though I'm reserving final judgement, as it could just be me needing to get used to the keyboard)
I hope the things that feel like definite or potential cons right now will resolve themselves as I get used to the keyboard. We'll see.
I like a lot of what I see, and I think the keyboard will work well for my needs for now. My biggest worry is whether it will be sturdy enough to last for very long. It feels a bit flimsy. Fingers crossed!
After about 4 months of use, one of the key stopped working. The product was under warranty as per the listing of the product on the site. So I contacted Amazon. I was told to contact the company and so I did. The manufacturers (iClever) diverted my ball in the court of the LLP company which imported the item to India and sold it on Amazon, but Alas! .... The Peach Import LLP. I did rush to the Peach for help, but they didn't catch the tossed ball and finally landed in the court of the Amazon.
Thanks to Amazon that they responded after asking me proof of the communications done with both the other parties and they accepted a return and refund, else I would have been enjoying a faulty product priced at very very high price.
Thanks to Amazon and zero marks to the manufacturer and the importer.
Be careful.
Advice for Amazon - Pl provide platform for the customers to lodge such a complaint with the seller / manufacturer on your platform itself which shall make them more answerable for their products to their customers (who are Amazon's customers as well) and to Amazon as well.
There's a lot to like about the BK08. It's a trip-fold, which makes it small and stowable, the keys feel ok (not great), battery lasts a long time, can connect 3 BT device at once and switch between them, and it worked great with my iPad mini. I used it a lot.
What I don't like is that there is no real battery indicator, the use instruction for iOS could be better, and the keys and function don't all map to what the instruction say they should.
I still enjoyed the keyboard.
Then, it stopped working. I don't know why. It just stopped. I don't know if it not holding a charge because there's no indicator. it won't connect to BT. It's a brick.
An update: BK08 comes with a 1 year warranty. I contacted iClever and got a timely response. I was asked to try a few things to see how dead my dead keyboard was. After confirming its brick status iClever is sending me a new keyboard.
Yes, this is how a warranty should work, but how often do you run into a company that actually honors them without you having to go through some arcane ritual to prove that the device is under warranty and unfixable? I applaud iClever for being not-evil! I 'm changing my rating to a full 5 stars.
