Arrived earlier than expected!
Just received the new laptop, and it arrived over a week earlier than expected! So far so good! I’m also receiving a 90 day warranty extension for my feedback! It’s running beautifully with everything on it installed and ready to go. The only downfall for using for games is it is 60hz screen but for everyday use, it’s been great!!

Boots fast, performs well.
There is no bay for a 2.5"HDD so if you are thinking to upgrade with a second HDD this is not the machine.
The "bonus" 32Gb USB card was an absolute FAKE. It barely holds 3.5Gb. Throw it away.

Bought the 8gb version of this and it ran pretty bad on games I play (Rust for instance), upgraded to 32 gb now it's a beast for the price. Don't expect to run newer games at full detail, but definitely good enough to enjoy stuff. It's fairly quiet despite others saying it was really loud.

It was a major pain in the arse to upgrade the ram, literally had to remove every single screw and part to get to the memory bank.

There's a spot in there for a second hard drive too (I have 1 ssd version).

Paid 750 cnd which is a total steal for the power it has.

I'm a digital artist / small time gamer. This laptop has beyond exceeded my expectations.
I'm used to running games, such as 7DTD, Sims, Don't Starve, etc, on the lowest possible settings. This laptop? Auto sets them to high, or fantastic quality, and runs them without a single issue. 7DTD, Ark, L4D2, and My Time At Portia, all run on high or better quality.
Battery life? Excellent. Storage space? Great, SSD is awesome, but plan to add a harddrive for extra space. Dedicated drivers? AWESOME. Runs everything so smoothly. Price? Completely justified. I was hesitant to spend this much money on a new laptop, when I could find a lesser model for 200$ less, but this was definitely a much better decision.

I bought this as a birthday present so I had it for a few weeks prior to opening. When opened we discovered it didn’t work unless plugged in! We thought initially it just need to be charged but then after 24 hours of charging the same result. When I reached out to Amazon I was basically told too bad, there 30 day return period is over. I was never rude, never raised my voice, I was pleasant, just expressed that there must be something they could do. Then they hung up on me. Brand new out of box and useless. Never again. I thought I was safe purchasing on Amazon but they’ve shown what they’re all about!

Although the configuration is good but the overall build quality, Camera video quality is not up to the mark. The rivals like HP Envy has way better look and build quality in that price range.
Seller has enhanced the configuration though.
So if you are looking for a good config with a normal look and feel, go for it. But if you are looking for something premium, then it's not for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Fantastic for Casual Gaming 4 Years Later

I bought this laptop on sale for about $600 in 2020, for the purpose of being able to run more powerful games without having to invest in a more expensive device specifically advertised as a "gaming laptop", or a bulkier desktop setup. I did the research on the specs I needed, and this one looked perfect for me personally. Today, it still runs games like Ark, Skyrim, 7 Days to Die, The Sims 4, and Baldur's Gate 3 very well. There is minimally increased lag when first starting up a large game like BG3, compared to 4 years ago, but it pretty quickly gets up to speed.

After a full shutdown, it still powers back up and is ready to use in nearly the blink of an eye. I currently have 8 games installed (not including Ark - the size of that is monstrous), as well as programs like Unity, RPG Maker MV, Blender, Sony ACID Music Studio, and OBS Studio (all of which also run perfectly well), and innumerable documents, pictures, and videos, and still have 123 GB free on this device.

I cannot speak to the battery life, as I only ever use it plugged in and have no reason to rely on battery. I will say, it does tend to overheat when running more demanding games IF it's in direct contact with a solid surface. I finally thought to buy a $20-ish metal, slightly-elevated laptop stand with holes for aeration 1-2 years ago, and suddenly it no longer gets hot to the touch at all, now that the hot air isn't getting trapped and directly heating up the surface beneath it. Therefore, I HIGHLY recommend doing the same to extend the laptop's life even further (and avoid fire hazards depending on your surface). You don't need any external fans or fancy cooling materials - literally just elevate the laptop and give it room to breathe, just like any other :)

Overall, this laptop is perfect for the slightly-more-than-casual gamer and creative person, and if I knew it would still be working this well 4 years later, I absolutely still would have paid $800+ for it if it hadn't been on sale at the time. Here's to (hopefully) a good number more years of quality gaming and creation on this laptop!

I bought this laptop at just a little over $450. My Vaio finally bit the dust, and I was looking for something in the $500 range that could potentially serve as my primary PC as my desktop has also been nearing the end of its life.

This computer has far exceeded my expectations. I'm actually using it as my primary PC now, with all my peripherals plugged in via USB hub.

The hardest I generally push it is playing Classic WoW (on med/high settings) with maybe a Twitch stream or a YouTube video playing in the background, and it's handled that so far very well.

I'm not going to ding the rating due to bloatware, Windows 10, etc. because these are known factors when buying a computer, so I won't fault Asus for that.

The fingerprint reader does the job well, and I really like the form-factor. It's very slim, portable, but I'm not sure this computer will stand up to too much abuse. I suspect part of the reason for the great price is that the laptop is probably a little fragile. I'm also not a huge fan of the location of the power button, so be careful when you need to use the delete button-it's one button to the left of where it normally is. But again, this isn't a huge inconvenience.

From pressing the power button to being fully immersed in Classic Wow, or a video, or surfing the web, takes less than 20s. The SSD in this thing makes a HUGE difference.

Even with 3-5 USBs connected, and using HDMI to connect to my monitor, etc., the temp has stayed very cool. My Vaio would get incredibly hot toward the end of its life, even with a cooling fan underneath, but this ASUS barely gets warm to the touch.

I was able to squeeze nearly 10 years out of my Vaio, so hopefully this one has the same lasting power.

All-in-all, I'm super pleased with this purchase. I'd recommend it to anyone in the $500 range.

Edit: I wanted to check in at the (almost) year mark from when I purchased this just to say that it's running just as well as the day I bought it. I've treated it very well, kept it clean, and it's in great shape. What really impressed me so far has been the graphics-for a mobile device, the Radeon Vega graphics. I never had a major preference toward Radeon/nVidia, so when I bought this laptop, I just wanted something that could do some light gaming and handle any other daily tasks, and I've continued using it as my primary PC and it's still trucking. Easily worth 400-500 still, IMO.

Edit 2: Thanksgiving 2021 and this baby is still going! I hope I'm not testing my luck by updating, but so far, this laptop has stood the test of time. I still use it every day as my primary PC for every day browsing, Youtube/Twitch viewing, and light, low resource gaming (WoW Classics/light LoL, old PC games). I've treated it very well, don't travel with it super frequently, but protect it well when I do) and it's held up very well.

Looks okay for my girl's school work. DC power adaptor is a bit thin and looks easy to break, will prefer USB-C connection. My Acer Ultrabook with similar spec died just after 5 years but my Asus 8 or 9 years old laptop is still working.
