Such a fun summer book
Ok I’m usually very critical about books like this but I loved this book. I loved all the characters and I liked that this book wasn’t too cheesy. Some things were a little cringe for me but i enjoyed this book so much I looked past it. I love Felix and Lucy. I actually got excited about what was happening in the book, most times I don’t feel that way or get excited. This book was well done!

I’ve been getting back into reading, and this was my first Carley Fortune book I’ve read! It was so hard to put down, I looked forward to every chapter. Being from Nova Scotia, I was able to picture the locations, and feelings of PEI too. It was such a cute read; would definitely recommend picking this up!

Wow; what a fabulous read! This book is smoking hot but it is also a very emotional story about friends, friendship and love. The chemistry that is developed between Lucy and Felix is amazing but will it ever amount to more than just a yearly event? I loved the story line and how it was developed. I liked the use of the different time lines and that the story took place over 5+ years. The author has captured some of my favourite memories and feelings about Prince Edward Island and although the descriptions of Toronto are not as vivid, they still do a wonderful job of invoking the hustle and bustle of the city. Carley Fortune was a new to me author but I have already purchased and look forward to reading her other two books. If they are only half as good as This Summer will be Different, they will be amazing reads.

I enjoyed the book for the first half. Then it just got weaker and weaker. Could have skipped this one.
The characters are developed as fictional characters, but overall, there’s no depth to their existence. Reads like entitled young adults living in fantasy land, struggling with dimensions of life, which aren’t real struggles. Takes about 250 pages to discover what the “secret” struggle was. Their struggles and personal conflicts are hiccups! The build up to one of the character’s secret (prior to her wedding) is just ridiculous. I also dislike reading reading about characters in their 20s who are conflicted, “beat up” and “start over”! Clearly life has yet to beat you up…that’s where real life happens (that’s where we learn).
Disappointing ending and rather immature, but for young adults I guess this is entertaining.

This book was absolute perfection. Carley Fortune planted herself in my heart with her first book—and her voice is everything I want and need in a romance. With this novel, she weaves a propulsive story of friendship and the secret one friend harbors over the blossoming relationship with her friend's brother over the span of time. Her descriptions are vivid but not overdone, giving me a clear understanding of what everyone looks like, feels, and what's visually happening in important scenes. I've never been to PEI, but after reading this, I want to visit after the glorious descriptions. I loved the characters, her ability to show the fervent longing, sexual tension, and scrambling that comes when it's released while still leaving plenty to the imagination. Carley's writing comes across as beautiful and effortless, and her knack for storytelling is spellbinding. I'd give more than five stars if they were available. Highly recommend, even if you don't :::love::: romance.

This book is so rich in detail you can't help but feel like you are on the island. I didn't put it down, finished it in one sitting I never wanted it to end 🥰
