First of all, I've only had family members own robot vacuums. Secondly, I did my research - I looked into ALL the varieties, manufactures, and sub brands. Ultimately, I wanted to Buy once - be happy. I knew if I spent $400-$600 on a vac, I wouldn't be happy with it. So here we are. It was again the Roborock Ultra S8. Holiday buy, so I could get a deal before the new L30 dropped.

This vac won me over because of 3 things ...

1: Mop extension Arm! Holy heck, what a cool and realistic feature! This thing extends it's mop to run along walls, chair legs and floorboards! On top of that, round spinning mops that DETACH over carpet just seems better to clean than a vibrator.

2. Self empty and self cleaning. Amazing feature, it's smart enough to detect when it's pads are too dirty, it head back to base and cleans the pads! When it needs to clean a high carpet, it goes back, drops the mops, and continues cleaning.

3. The App and obstacle avoidance. Tech is tech and yes - sometimes it'll misidentify something. But, out of the 25 cleans and three weeks of ownership, it has never gotten stuck. The app it extremely customized, I can set separate cleanings, certain rooms on certain days, mop only, vac then mop. I can tell it what rooms not to enter. The app just works, I like that. Simple.

Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase this far. One thing I was worried about is warranty via Dreame... This is avoided by buying the extended warranty via Amazon third party.

Will see how it goes, I have a return period through till February 9th.

At the $1600 after taxes, I would recommend this guy.

4.0 out of 5 stars I had my doubts - however I'm pleasantly surprised!
