UPDATE Jun 09/24 a. So, I happened to switch to another pc last April for collecting recordings from this device. Lo & behold: the usb connection is consistently recognized, and data transfer has been consistently reliable. In case anybody's wondering, the problem pc was a Beelink Ser5 with a Ryzen 5-5560U (front usb port). b. I've switched over to WAV recording (rather than mp3) -- background noise is somewhat reduced, but file sizes are enormous! c. so far, no further lockups Have raised the rating to 3 stars. UPDATE Apr10/24 Well, I didn't think things could get any worse, but they did: yesterday, the thing seized up -- it had been charging and normally when you unplug the cable, the screen will say "BYE" and then go dark. This time, nothing happened -- the screen remained lit up, clicking On/Off did nothing. Clicking the Record button did nothing. I ended up leaving it as-is, until the battery ran down, then it properly shut down. After charging it up again, it seems to function okay. Reliability? -- the word "joke" comes to mind. UPDATE Feb17/24 - this recorder has noise cancellation, that's why the 2nd mic. At times, the "hollow" sound (noted previously) sounds more like being underwater. It tends to become continuous background noise on a recording. I've never used an ANC device before, so am not sure about this, but I wonder how can you noise-cancel on the same sound you're intending to record? - recording starts instantly, when triggered (good), but it also stops instantly (bad) instead of a slight delay at the end of the trigger -- recorded sound is clipped. - [** see Jun 09 update **) after daily use, the usb connection is beginning to fail -- power is ok, but the data line is flaky: I'm having to repeatedly jiggle the plug in the socket before Windows File Explorer will see/recognize the recorder. Overall, the recorder is disappointing, and I've dropped my rating down to 1 star. ORIGINAL post: I've been using the recorder for 3-4 days, so these are early comments. - excellent sensitivity. - spoken word clarity is good - button labels are black-on-black, hard to read; but with time you will likely get used to each button's function. - there are 2 microphones, but only 1 track is recorded. Sometimes the recording sounds a bit "hollow" -- I think this might be a phasing issue due to the 2 mics. - would have liked to have some kind of belt/shirt clip
