I am pleased with this product, and actually have two--one for my bedroom TV and one for my living room TV. Being able to connect the remote to my TV in order to not only navigate the Chromecast, but to turn the TV on and off, and adjust volume, is convenient.
My living room TV is an older model, and when I first connected my Google Chromecast with remote, I was not able to use the power on/off or volume adjustment features. When I tried to sync the remote to my TV, originally, it did not work. I did some Google research and found that sometimes, TVs are rebranded and you can connect by looking up what the original brand was and using that to connect. This was a bit of a nuisance, but in the end, it was successful.
More recently (perhaps because of a firmware update?) my remote has been able to control the TV power and volume, which is great!
If you are not technologically savvy, this product *may* be a bit difficult to set up, but my 70 year old mother has been able to learn how to use it, and so, I'd recommend even if you're unsure as long as you can have some patience, and especially if you have a friend or family member who can help you troubleshoot if issues arise.
