It randomly stopped working and I assumed the battery was dead. I plugged it in and carried on. Eventually the smell of burning plastic filled my house and I determined it was this. It was red hot and smoke was pouring out of it.
Had it continued to warm up the battery might of burst into flames.
I'm not sure what specific set of conditions must be met for this to happen, but I do know that I don't use cheap chargers and I haven't been using the bank in a non-standard way.
I can't recommend this. Now I have a fear of leaving battery banks plugged in.
