Update. Within a month the watch already has a broken tab where the strap release is so the strap cannot be changed now. My review has changed to 3 stars for build quality.
I purchased the black for myself and the pink for my girlfriend. We have been looking at purchasing matching smart watches for awhile now. We wanted ones that looked like the Fitbit versa 2 and the Apple watch without breaking the bank. What stood out about these watches is how good they look on your wrist with the screen off. The silicone band is easy to clean and the face of the watch doesn't scratch very easily. It feels like a solid product on your wrist and doesn't feel cheaply made.
We paired 2 watches simultaneously 1 on Android one on Apple. Once you connect with the app you can set the alerts for which apps you want to get notifications from. We noticed that my android phone gives me more options for app notifications. Sometimes I found we would have to launch the app everyday to connect the watch otherwise it wouldn't receive messages after going to bed the next day.
The messaging feature is okay. The font and color that display the message could be nicer. I'm not a fan of the orange times New Roman font it just isn't visually appealing. It would be nice if they added an option in the settings to choose a different font and color. Emojis don't work but that is to be expected for a $50 watch. It holds 5 messages and then you have to clear them manually.
You can also change your wallpaper to a photo but then you are very limited with your info on screen and it doesn't even show the battery life. So you can only check in the app if you use a custom wallpaper. The battery is amazing and lasts a week on a full charge with low brightness.
One feature I am impressed with is the music control that lets you choose which music app you want to control and it has a lot of options I can go back in forth in the app and switch from YouTube music to google music or the standalone YouTube app as well.
My phone says the battery is being drained by the app constantly refreshing between location and Bluetooth - the app is called yfit and it is pretty bad for battery drain on your phone. I disable and renable location on my phone just to get the weather for the day then I shut it off to save my battery. I was getting notifications in android that the location and Bluetooth is constantly searching. I've attached a screenshot from my battery settings. This is also a complaint on the app store and the app has poor ratings.
