Customer Review

This was a huge disappointment. I have a 4K TV and the new 4K firestick however I couldn't get a high enough Wifi connection to get 4K streaming. I bought this item to fix that.

Installation itself was okay. I was working in a tight space, which made it harder, but otherwise as expected. Many suggest not relying on your TVs USB power and instead plugging it into a wall outlet. But overall the actual instal wasn't difficult.

The real issues are with the firestick interface and design of the product. Mine did not automatically read the ethernet connection and insisted on connecting by WIFI. I did a few power resets and it didn't work. I had to read a few forums from others having the same issues and followed their troubleshooting. I did it all and scoured my settings options - all of it. Nothing worked. I had to factory reset the stick. That was annoying as I had to set it all up again. After the rest it would still only read a WIFI connection. I power reset again - modem and the stick- and thankfully it finally read the ethernet connection.

Then, after all that, I did a speed test and my speed is the same if not lower than my WIFI connection. I will mention that I have an excellent internet speed provided though my internet provider so that was not the issue.

I went back to the forums and learned that the products design can slow the internet due to the micro USD capacity. It creates a bottleneck issue. So in the end this product will help limit buffering -if that is your issue- and not guarantee you have access to a better internet speed at all.

Amazon should be providing FireTV sticks with built-in ethernet ports and not make this item the only option for customers. I could understand it being used for people who own older models but they should offer a product with a built in ethernet port. It's ridiculous and lazy product design and feels like a way for this huge company to nickel and dime their customers.
