No need to run wires all over! I even got this working with the v3 Pro that's on our front porch, but had to use the separate Spotlight to get the connection secure (there's a wire connector sizing difference with the 'Pro' version).That being said, I'm tempted to buy a second of these adapters to have my garage/driveway camera connection cleaner (and neater) and not run need to run 7 USB extensions from the plugpoint inside...

The Wyze socket works with the Wyze 3 camera. It doesn’t work if you screw it into an outdoor motion dector light. Needs to be a regular light socket for the camera to work.

I use the lamp socket to power my Wyzecam v3 camera and to turn my lamp into a smartlight. In this regard, it fails. It's very hit or miss and only turns on about 20% of the time when it detects motion at night. I've opened a support ticket with Wyze about this but I don't have confidence this will be fixed in the near future. For now, I think I will just keep my lights on at night, from dusk to morning.

** The problem is not with the camera or light. It works as it should. It will only turn on the light when it’s very dark. If there's a bit of ambient light, it will not turn on.

I have a Toucan camera and it's original socket is broken, and there is no replacement part for it. I found this item and plan to give it a try. It totally works and I'm pretty happy with it. It is not cheap though.

I'll start with the pros:
- Very easy to install
- Great additional settings, like turning on your lights on detection, timing when it turns on, and a few others.
- Works with most outdoor lights, even motion detecting lights, you just have to turn on your brain and set the switch to "always on" on your motion detecting lamp. Not sure why so many people struggled with that and blamed the product instead. An actual consideration though is that some lamps might not have the right physical properties to fit a bulb + the socket + wiring, but I had no issues.

Cons:
The product apparently is less durable than a $2 LED lightbulb.
I bought this for my front door lamp and it was great until about a year in it just died. I did some trouble shooting and found it wasn't my camera or lamp, just the socket randomly being dead. This really sucks since the product is more expensive than the wyze cam OG, but doesn't have remotely the same durability.
It's not even like I had it directly exposed to the elements either, it was surrounded by the same glass that protects the light bulb but somehow it was the first thing to fail out of my lamp, $2 bulb, and wyze cam v3.

Can't recommend at all.

This item is perfect, especially if you don’t have extra plug-ins where you want to put the camera downside is the cable that comes with it doesn’t actually fit in the version three which is why I bought it in the first place however I was able to use the original cable that came with my camera so it worked out well

This works well as a power source, but I have a few issues with the product that I wish Wyze would address. 1. The cable comes out at a strange angle, and not all light fixtures allow for the cable to come through properly. We ended up needing to take the glass fixture off, so now it's just an exposed light bulb, which is quite ugly.
2. The motion sensor is very sensitive. I know this is connected to the camera, but it just doesn't seem to work well, so I don't use that feature.
3. The light doesn't always respond when turning it on/off from the app.
4. The light seems to reset by itself after a power outage, and it doesn't turn off unless I manually go and reset the light switch on the wall.

Update: after physically rearranging my 3 sockets, moving the one with the most recent MAC address to be directly connected to my v3 cam, the entire group have been working flawlessly! Updating to 5 stars.

I bought the first one to power a new V3 camera off a garage mounted porch light, and for that, it works well. Discovered that it was “smart”, and could operate additional units as slaves, awesome! Bought two more to go in my front entry porch lights! Set the sunrise and sunset schedule. They turn off in the morning just fine, but fail to come on at night, until cycle the porch lights power completely! Using the app to cycle just the sockets doesn’t fix it However, even though the socket loses its lunch to power the light bulb, it still provides power to the V3 camera! Very odd behavior. So, I could do away with any scheduling, and just leave my porch lights on 24x7, but it sure would be nice if the scheduling feature actually worked consistently.
