Make Sure You have the Latest Software

For the latest features and optimal performance, be sure your HERO10 Black has the latest software. The fastest and easiest way to update it is with the GoPro Quik app. You can also update it manually.

Use Real GoPro Batteries

For maximum performance, use GoPro batteries designed for HERO10 Black. Non-GoPro batteries may fit in your camera, but could limit its performance. They may also break your camera and could cause safety risks.

Maximizing Battery Life

Use HERO10 Black’s Extended Battery mode to maximize your camera’s runtime. It uses the most energy-efficient resolutions and frame rates to extend battery life. Swipe down on the rear touch screen and tap the lightning bolt icon to access this mode.

Get an SD Card That Can Keep Up

You’ll need an SD card that’s capable of meeting the high-performance demands of HERO10Black. Use a brand-name card that fits these requirement: microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC. Rated Classv30, UHS-3 or higher. Capacity up to 512GB

Capturing Longer Stationary Shots

Use the Tripod/Stationary mode for tripod-mounted or other still shots longer than 20 minutes. These shots require airflow to cool your camera. There’s likely to be less airflow for still shots (especially indoors). This mode lowers the frame rate to 30fps where airflow is not a factor. Swipe down on the rear touch screen and tap the lightning bolt icon to access this mode.

This is my first ever action camera. Only recorded a few hours so far but I have already created custom video recording profiles based on expert advice on YouTube. It turned out great. I would be looking forward to buying the GoPro 12 or 13 and skipping GoPro 11 that will be coming out soon because this GoPro 10 is already good enough for 4K@30 fps.

I would have rated this product 5 but because overheating issues I gave it a 4 stars. Its good action camera except for the overheating battery issues and the camera will stop recording like within 15 minutes and ther camera power off. They said the ugrade firmware will fix the issues. But I have found a real solution for the overheating by purchasing a Ulanzi battery handle grip Ulanzi BG-3 with portal power bank charger. Tested it and it did not overheat your sd card will run out of memory. Also if you use the Ulanzi G9-5 Housing aluminum video case it will not overheat. Even without the battery just using the power bank charge grip it does not overheat. Gopro listen to what I'm saying the previous gopros I returned but with my solution I'm keeping it. Do your job and listen to people complains. It's the battery overheating the camera.

I originally bought this to video tape a wedding but the media mod I ordered to work with the camera was three days late so it wasn’t of use to me for that. Thought about sending it back but decided to give it to my 11 year old daughter for her birthday yesterday. The package was not factory sealed and the camera look as though someone had already used it. It kept shutting off on its own and would not operate properly. Sent it back for a refund and purchased her another one.
Will update again when we get the new one to let you all know how it works for us. Hoping it works as it should. Never had a GoPro before and know nothing about them so my daughter and I are excited to try it out on one of our outings.

UPDATE: I purchased a new one the day I sent the faulty one back as we didn’t want to wait for the return process. The new one is amazing. I’m so surprised at what a tiny camera like this is capable of. Pictures and videos have vibrant clear colours and the stabilization is incredible. So happy we decided to get one. The best part is that it’s fully waterproof and we can take it on our kayaking and boat adventures without having to worry about getting it wet. Great little camera.
