First of all, customer service from this seller was excellent - the first one of these arrived broken (likely a manufacturing issue; see details below), but I had a replacement in my hands just 3 days later at no charge, and I didn't have to ship the first one back.That said, this product could use some refinement, as the convertible combination USB A / micro port is just a bit too clever to be robust. See photo 1 - my first adapter arrived looking like this.There is a very thin piece of plastic inside that separates the conductive top of the micro USB plug from the pins in the USB A plug. The clear plastic cap for that plug attaches by squeezing the top and bottom of the USB A plug with a bit too much force - see photo 2 - which deforms it. This is probably what broke the plastic in the first one. I've put a different cap on it (a silicone one, which doesn't squeeze the plug).Technical characteristics:All ports work as advertised; however, note that this is a USB 2 device (which makes sense, as the Apple Lightning connector is still limited to USB 2 speed only). The fastest transfer speed I saw was about 21 MB/sec. This is still faster than I usually get transferring files over wifi with my iPhone, though, so this is more than adequate for my uses (backing up photos from the iPhone in the field, without having to connect it to a computer).Two quirks to be aware of:When plugging the device into a USB 3 port in Windows, it sometimes took a long time to show up. This is apparently alleviated somehow by plugging the USB C port into a C female to A adapter, and then plugging that into the computer. (I did this to confirm that none of the ports were capable of USB 3 speed; using this arrangement also only transferred at 21 MB/sec.)Only one SD card slot can be used at a time, and the full size slot takes priority over the micro SD slot - if you have a card in both, only the one in the full size slot is visible to the computer or phone.Overall, it's a useful device for the cost and unlike some other ones, it is small and narrow enough to fit into one of the smaller compartments in my toolbox.Some changes I would suggest to the manufacturer:- Make the protective caps out of silicone, so that they don't have to squeeze the connectors so hard to stay on.- Get rid of the combination/convertible micro/A port, and just have a USB A port on the device and include an A-to-micro adapter in the package. This would be much less fragile.- Get rid of the charging passthrough port; newer iPhones draw 30 watts, and I'm not sure this adapter is rated for that.- It would be nice if the device supported USB 3; maybe the cost saved by dropping the charging port could be used to upgrade to a USB 3 interface. If the device is going to remain USB 2 only, change the blue plastic for black so that customers aren't expecting USB 3 speeds.
