What a Difference these Stairs have Made....
I initially ordered these because I "had" to do something...my cat is getting old..I had been lifting her up onto the bed but when she jumped down the stress and impact on her old joints just sent a chill through me. I ordered them and waited...they arrived and were set up in seconds...(so easy) I placed a piece of food on each step and encouraged her to come for the treat. In less than 2 days she was using the stairs all the time...she had a bit of trouble remembering to use them to come down because painful or not she had been doing that on her own...so I made sure to be there when she needed to come down...it was just a matter of re-wiring her thinking...she was jumping down out of habit...so with redirection again...she came down by using the stairs...best best very best thing I could have bought her...to thank her for all those years BUT I almost made the mistake of ordering the Large size...these are EXTRA Large...seemed I counldn't possibly need the extra large ones for a cat...when these are good for dogs too...but you do...in order to reach the height required for them to access your bed you need to have the extra large...I am sending a picture with this review....wish I could send the video of her using these stairs...at the end of the day....these are amazing...easy up...easy down...I secured mine with the rubbery drawer liner to keep them from sliding on the hardwood floor. It was an inexpensive fix to the sliding problem.

These pet steps are an excellent purchase. Bought them for our older cat who was having trouble jumping onto the bed. As soon as I put the steps out, he knew precisely what to do. The colour is rich expensive looking; matches our bedroom decor perfectly. The depth of each step and the distance from one step to the next is perfectly manageable for a cat. Most stair units are too short but this one is taller making it great for a higher than usual bed. The cat even likes to sit at a downward slope with hind legs on one step and front legs on the other. This is a solid and sturdy piece of equipment. No assembly required. Excellent value. Highly recommend this product.

Liked how they are carpeted so dogs won’t slip. Used these for my dog to get up on our bed. Didn’t take long to train her to use them

The stairs are pretty good, but they’re a bit steep. This is good because they take up less space however they’re a bit too steep for my pug when she goes down them. Also when she jumps from the top step to the bed, she often kicks them away from the bed. I put double sided tape on the bottom to help keep it in place. Loved how they came preassembled out of the box, and it looks nice.

I thought I was buying the smaller version but because they’ve changed the company name of smaller I ordered incorrectly.

I kept the larger one because it works for little our dog to climb up on the bed by himself. He’s slightly handicapped- back legs are weak.

Be sure to measure because this large set has a greater distance between each riser - it’s wider and takes up lots of floor space. And a good way to break your toe in the dark…😏

I needed this for my little Chihuahua to get up to my bench seating and up to my bed. It's perfect, it blends in beautifully with my wood furniture and he loves it. Nice grip on the treads. Perfect!

I bought this so my dog who just had surgery could eventually use the stairs so I wouldn't have to lift 85lbs on and off the bed every day. Luckily (though I' sure she doesn't agree) it was NOT my dog who just had surgery that this collapsed under. This other dog is 89lbs. The set of stairs is supposed to hold up to 200lbs. That backing piece only has 2 metal nubs that fit into holes on the inside of the stairs with what looks like something that is supposed to be a stabilizer flap pressing against it. When the stairs did arrive, one of those holes looked really roughed up so I blame myself for not sending this back right away, but the back piece did appear to fit how it should anyways. HOWEVER, not only have I been given options by Amazon, after contacting Solvit I was VERY impressed with the level of customer service I received and the genuine concern shown to me by David. I can return the defective product to Amazon and David from Solvit is sending me the plastic version of these stairs expedited and completely free of charge while I decide whether or not I wish exchange the wooden stairs for a new one. This shows me that Solvit truly stands behind their products. The plastic version is not as liable to manufactures issues as something made from wood and metal. Although the plastic stairs are not as aesthetically appealing, they may be a little safer and will help my dog with her mobility in the meantime. David also said that because of all of this, they are having an engineer check the wooden stairs to see if there is a way to ensure this never happens again.

These stairs are not sturdy enough to hold a heavy dog. Mine is an English Bulldog (so not the largest breed) who weighs 51 pounds and although these stairs can take his weight, they aren't heavy enough to stay firmly placed on the floor when he is going up or down at a quick pace. As a result, the stairs move, which can be dangerous to him and to those near the stairs (I got hit with it and now have a bruise on my leg).

All in all, I do not recommend this product. The manufacturers should have built it using heavier material on the base so that it stayed firmly on the floor. After all, it is a staircase made for larger pets.

A Long-time Prime Person
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, and 11/2016 update.

2-22-13. The company must have solved the past quality issues or many past reviews were way off base. The stairs arrived in their own factory box on time. The box was damaged in shipping with several gouges and tears but the stairs were fine. The stairs are strong, the look (style) is high-end, like Frontgate at a 4th the cost, looks very nice with their dark stain, cloth, and finish; kind of between Walnut and Mahogany stain. The stair fabric does look like pool table fabric, but that is OK and works well, and the front, vertical, kick boards, that are not affected by dog feet, are about 1/8" veneered plywood (no problem). The stairs are very stable and even have a wedge-gravity-lock, no wiggle, and my 13lb (long) Havanese had no problem getting up and down while being coaxed with Stewart's freeze dried liver treats, which he loves and Amazon carries (very highly recommend, too). I have no 'beefing up to do to it. It is a very good price for what you get. You could tack new carpet to the stairs if needed to raise each step a little and add more traction. One suggestion is to extend future steps out about 4-6 inches for the length of dogs. This fit my 33" tall bed at 25" and requires a small jup from my small dog, but one can't tell it is a problem. I think if thicker carpet was added it would provide more traction and hight. I love it and would recommend to a friend, and may buy another. Very Good price, fast 2-day Prime shipping with free returns. The other 'plastic' stairs I tried-out were long enough run but the treads were very narrow, sideless, and the stairs were unstable and leaned forward, with the front of the steps lower than the back, canting forward, more like a hybrid ramp stair, but leaving an unclosable space between the stair and bed. It looked like cheap childrens play plastic climbing toys or patio storage furniture. It was the tallest, top step at 31". It was the Pet .... VI with 6 steps. I sent those back free with Prime and exchanged it for this. Live and learn. No comparison of these to those and these were about $35 more, but I do not think you coulf make these for less money. Great product that should last a long time. Update 11/22/2016: I still feel it is great. I now have an 18lb. dog, did staple real carpet to it, came out, and have put screws in it. It is a bit flimsy and cheaply made but at a good price, and still works well so I still recommend it. They used metal nails to shoot it together, which do come out easily.
