I have suffered with severe dry eye disease with corneal abrasions, for years. I have a dry eye specialist, and have tried everything from Medicated prescription eye drops, blood serum eye drops, and LipiFlow. So far nothing has given me real relief, and my physician will have to resort to more invasive procedures. I use preservative free eye drops all day long to relieve the pain. I even have to resort to using opiates often as the pain can become unbearable. I did not know this eye ointment existed until a week ago. I tried it during the day. Within 5 minutes my eyes felt better. Yes they were a bit blurry for the first 15 min as it is a heavy ointment, but they cleared up. My eyes still felt better after 3 hours. I was amazed! I used them again, and I went without using opiates for the entire day and night! This is definitely the best eye ointment ( drops) I have ever used for severe dry eye. They keep your eyes lubricated for many hours, which is a very welcome relief from the pain. Of course they won’t take the place of medical treatments for severe dry eye disease, but they definitely provide some relief.I also use this before bed, and wake up with my eyes lubricated. I highly recommend this ointment for severe dry eye disease.!

If you're reading reviews because you use eye ointments and you want to know if this is a good alternate to something you've been using...It is.
It's quite comfortable when used at the appropriate time, right before sleep. Any earlier than that and it can make your eyes feel a little tacky or uncomfortable, but as soon as you close them for a while and allow the ointment to become more viscous that will subside.
It hasn't caused me any irritation, and lasts through the night into the morning. Often my vision is still slightly blurred when I wake up, and there is a fair amount of run off creating a greasy sheen under my eyes...but this is expected with lubricating ointments. I'd rather have it work a little too long into the morning, then cut out half way through the night.

My only complaint is that it seems that often there are small air pockets in the already small tube. Which can make it seem sometimes like there is even less than the 3.5grams (which is not a lot). You tend to go through them quickly until you get the hang of realizing how little you need for it to be effective.
