Very easy installation, but...
This head unit was very easy to install, although its my first install so I have nothing to compare it to. The touch screen is very responsive, the image is nice and sharp and contrast is strong. The back-end is very responsive, not delayed at all like some other cheap android based devices. The wireless Apple car play sets up easy and fast. The best way to explain it, is so far it seems the unit is basically an android tablet with head unit features. There's so many apps pre-loaded to play with. You can customize the wallpaper with some pre-installed ones or you can put your own on a usb and plug it in to use that. There are 2 USB ports, one for data and one for wired carplay. I don't have any photos of the installation process, but I do have a photo to share AFTER the install. It was installed using a Scosche trim, and I manually soldered a Metra wiring harness to make it as plug and play as possible.The only big downfall for me, and sadly I only discovered it after the fact, is that neither the internal nor the external mic seems to work. I installed the external mic behind the steering wheel in front of the cluster, so its right in front of me. I have a similar mic set up with my wireless carplay head unit in another vehicle, and the mic has always picked me up easily, so I'm confident placement is fine. When I receive texts, as expected it reads them to me and then asks if I would like to reply. It doesn't matter how loud I say "YES", I even yelled it. The system just sits there waiting a few seconds and then times out and resumes music, as if I said nothing. I've tried speaking directly into the built-in mic (top left of the head unit faceplate) as well, with the same result. After googling around, mic issues are apparently very common with this head unit, if not all ATOTO units. I really don't want to take apart my whole dash again just to replace this head unit, or the mic, but I guess I won't have much choice. For now I'm just accepting the loss of mic input, and leaving this review...Pros: - Very sharp image - Very responsive touch screen - Super easy wireless car play setup - Tons of bonus apps/features - Audio quality improved hugely compared to the stock stereo, despite speakers not being replacedCons: - The microphone features being DOA out of the box shouldn't be a common failure, yet it seems to beIts still early days, if there's any changes I'll update here.Update few days later:It seems the microphone is physically functioning, it just ignores you responses when it asks you something. For instance, I use apple car play. When Siri reads a text message to me, it asks if I would like to respond. I say yes, it ignores me and times out. But if I just ignore it and let it time out and then say "Siri, message <someone> <insert message here>", it chimes in and does as expected with "Ok, sending to <someone>". Haven't had a call yet, so can't confirm that functionality. It seems this is a software bug. I do recall someone else having a similar issue on reddit... Will look into firmware updates. In the mean time, this review will stay at 3 stars. If I manage to get it working as expected, I'll report back here with another update.

Make sure to plug everything in, even if you’re not going to use it, just to future-proof it (all USB connectors should be plugged in, etc.). I also purchased the ATOTO dash cam and the reversing camera. After wiring them to the main unit, they work seamlessly. The reverse camera pops up as soon as you start reversing, and the dash camera can be accessed from the main unit, which is great.
You have the flexibility to customize everything, including the boot-up screen to match your vehicle’s brand. Plus, you can install new apps directly from the Play Store. If you’re not using either CarPlay or Android Auto, the main radio app that comes installed on the A6 is fantastic. It allows you to save multiple stations and rename them as you please.
Additionally, you can customize your EQ settings to your liking—whether you want it to sound like garbage or as if you’ve just upgraded your car’s speakers. Having this level of user control over a stereo is something more brands should offer. While I didn’t feel the need to create a custom EQ for my car, the option is always there if I ever want to fine-tune it.
The customer service is also commendable. I made sure to register my products on the ATOTO website for warranty purposes. I received a follow-up email from support, checking if everything was okay with my devices and offering assistance if needed.
Honestly, I’m very happy with what I got, and the total price was still under that of stereos from more popular brands. Nowadays, I don’t see a lot of differences in these consumer-grade electronics from so-called “Chinese” companies and other better-known brand names. All of them come from the same towns and factories, and the build quality and responsiveness of my ATOTO is as good as any other OEM stereo I’ve interacted with.
PS: The stereo also comes with an HD (clear) and a frosted (matte) screen protector. I found the frosted option to be the best one since it acts as an anti-glare screen protector.

The customer service is also commendable. I made sure to register my products on the ATOTO website for warranty purposes. I received a follow-up email from support, checking if everything was okay with my devices and offering assistance if needed.
Honestly, I’m very happy with what I got, and the total price was still under that of stereos from more popular brands. Nowadays, I don’t see a lot of differences in these consumer-grade electronics from so-called “Chinese” companies and other better-known brand names. All of them come from the same towns and factories, and the build quality and responsiveness of my ATOTO is as good as any other OEM stereo I’ve interacted with.
PS: The stereo also comes with an HD (clear) and a frosted (matte) screen protector. I found the frosted option to be the best one since it acts as an anti-glare screen protector.

First off, I have spent countless hours researching radios, installs, more radios, reviews, more reviews (I have a hard time making up my mind when making an important purchase)
With that being out of the way, I have to say that so far this little ardroid radio is simply amazing. I have included a bunch of pictures of things needed (or not) for the instalation of this head unit
Make it easy on yourself and go to the Crutchfield website for all the little extras that will make your life just this much extra simple.
First you need the radio removal tools ( Metra 86-5618 Factory Radio Removal Tools )
Please be aware that the mazda Miata radio requires 4 four quatro of these removal tools and one kit contains 2. You might be able to fiddle around with 2 and a precision screwdriver or whatever. I just went to a shop and borrowed an extra kit for the 5 seconds it took to unclip the radio.
Next thing important to have on hand is a wiring harness ( Metra 70-7903 Receiver Wiring Harness )
Man did this save me a lot of trouble, everything on the metra harness is very well labeled AND everything on the harness that came with the ATOTO A6PF radio was amazingly just as nicely labeled. So a simple crimping process took place before i even got to the car part of this.
Another thing to consider to make this a very clean install is the trim kit ( Metra 99-7505 Dash Kit (Black) ) All of these optionnal parts are available through Crutchfield.
There are way to many options on this radio for what my car can take, for example it can accomodate a rear-view camera (its a tiny convertible, no need for that) or even a dash-cam (not installing one either but this one could become very interesting nonetheless)
It has 2 line-out converters if you have a custom amp, wiring for a subwoofer and even an extra rca aux input vid/left/right. One could probably hook up a N64 on there if you're old-school enough.
The installation itself is very intuitive, every wire has a dedicated place of its own and can't be plugged in the wrong port.
This head unit comes with an external gps antenna to enable the onboard navigation system to be fully self sufficient without the need for your phone ad even has google map pre-installed for your convenience.
There are many apps already pre-installed but then again you have to remember this is practically an android tablet. Anything you can do on you home android tablet, you can do on this unit. My first test was to install spotify and download music right on the unit which worked flawlessly.
I will admit tho the initial setup to get everything up and running was a bit of a learning curve. The 2 bluetooth chips built in (one for connecting your phone and one for internet tethering) are a very interesting concept, and lets not forget about the amazing Equalizer.
Now this is a car stereo so of course there is going to be some sort of an equalizer but DAMN i couldnt have asked for better.
Comparing the sound coming from this versus the original 2004 head-unit is basically comparing apples to oranges. The sound is crisp and clear and with the 36 band equalizer, i can get it exactly like i want it. It has awsome bass and cristal clear highs.
I will have to come back at the end of the summer to further complement my review as it has only been installed for a week as of yet so time will tell me how well this car radio is going to make it.
Definately giving this a 5 star review as of yet.
