For the money there is absolutely nothing better!
If money is no object buy a shield and forget about the rest. Keep in mind you gain very little for 4x the money! I have both devices side by side and I knit pick on picture quality as a hobby and I can tell you the following:Running TiviMate (IPTV) with both devices on the same model TV side by side (pioneer kuro plasmas, yes I have 2) watching the exact channel, there is ZERO noticeable difference in PQ. Zero!The biggest difference between the devices is the operating system used. The fire stick is more locked down than the shield causing you to do things in a roundabout way which isn’t the case for the shield.Also what drives me nuts is the remote control phone interface for the firestick is a paid app where it’s free on the shield. If you need the use of a keyboard pay the extra!! The phone app for the shield is FANTASTIC!!Overall when these are on sale I can’t imagine a better deal for the price! Would highly recommend for 95% of users! For ultra power users and overall peace of mind, shield!

Remote Very Cheap Plastic! (not like previous versions) - Firestick itself is good!

I did not like at all the remote that comes with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It's a very cheap plastic (Not like any previous version). When pressing any of the buttons you can feel the battery cover moves up/down and it feels will break if you drop it. Even the finishing on the left/right sides is sharp that you can fell it (maybe just mine). Aside from that good addition for the extra shortcut buttons. However, I'll probably throw away this remote and pair the with an old one just as the feel and touch in the old one is just amazing!
