I have had a number of Yamaha products over the years and never been disappointed. Liked the way it integrated with my other equipment.

The whole idea of a soundbar is to keep it clean. If a subwoofer is needed then you might as well go for a 9.1 system. Plus this soundbar actually have a sub output incase you want to wake the dead.

First of all if you just watch shows and movies at low volume you're not going to notice much difference. This unit shines when you give it some power. Movies and music sound fantastic with beefy lows and decent mids and highs. Oddly enough music sounds best to me on the movie setting. I paired the unit with an old Klipsch Subwoofer and it paired up nicely with it. Wife actually got mad at me listening to music on it until 1am and she was trying to sleep lol. I knocked one star off due to the crappy HDMI cable they give you. It was causing cut-outs in audio every 3-5 minutes so I did some troubleshooting and figured it out. Seen somebody else in the reviews had the same problem and I hope they figured it out.
Over all I'm really happy with this little unit and I'm sure you will be too.

Picked up this SB to replaced an LG unit that failed within 2-years.

The Yamaha SB is marginally more costly than an equivalent LG, but the sound quality is equal, and the sub is built in making it a much tidier installation.

Is it worth the current price?....I'll let you decide as there are other less expensive options out there. One thing for sure, you can certainly see the Yamaha quality...lets hope it lasts more than 2-years.

First off I own an older model (YAS-109) and gifted this to a relative. Audiophiles may think I over rated this bar but sound quality is good and the features on that app are quite good. The best reason I like the Yamaha sound bars are because the have a line out for a subwoofer, allowing me to either use my current one or choosing another. I'm not a fan of Bluetooth connections it's old fashioned wired stuff for me (HDMI & RCA). My relatives were very satisfied with the bass sans sub and can purchase one later on if they feel the need.

Used this as a sound bar (without the bass box) for the tv. Nice looking unit, nice sound and easy to use. Only caveat I have with it is it does not have a visible sound level display.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Features in a Budget Sound Bar

Bought the SR-B30A for the master bedroom and have been more than impressed. I wanted a wired sub out to pair with a better sub than the one's that come with the bar/sub bundles. While working on my main living room system I was trying out an SVS 3000 Micro sub that has now been paired with the SR-B30A for an unbelievable combination. The 3000 Micro is expensive (did get a really good deal from the SVS outlet) but after watching Top Gun Maverick I will keep it paired with the sound bar. I've used both HDMI and Optical connections, prefer HDMI due to ARC, both methods sound great.

One thing that really stands out is the ability to control both treble and bass with the SB Remote app. I stumbled on it by accident, the up arrow in the volume control box expands the options and exposes the treble and bass controls. For the price, the ability to add a wired sub and also get tone controls is fantastic.

Overall the sound quality is very good. My usage is 65/35 movies/music. Everything I have played has sounded very good but having a sub makes a huge difference. The soundstage is not very wide but for the size of the bar it is acceptable. For a bedroom or small living room the SR-B30A is a solid choice. Recommended budget sub pairing would be a Yamaha Audio 8" (NS-SW050) or 10" (NS-SW100).

Set up on Sony tv using E Arc with provided HDMI cable. My second Yamaha sound bar. This was the easiest and fastest setup I’ve ever had. Can’t believe how simple and quickly it connected with my 1 year old Sony tv.
I’ve had sound bars that were so complicated and finicky about connection and proper sound that I just gave up on them. What an improvement in sound over earlier sound bars. Impressive surround for movies, music, and just plan dialogue. We watch many old movies and this does a phenomenal job of making the old movies sound good. If you’re looking for a simple setup with great sound without going crazy trying to play what you want; this is a superb high value product. My first Yamaha was purchased nearly 15 years ago and still works great on an older tv. Highly recommended! My second purchase from “World Wide Stereo” rated 5 stars for fast UPS delivery. I did not receive any promotion for writing this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yamaha: Please Don't Stop Offering Options with a Sub Pre-Out!
Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2023

First, I'll start by saying that this is the first soundbar I've ever owned, so I don't have a prior soundbar to compare this to. What I did have previously, was a 7.2 surround sound component system, built over the years with seven independent full range speakers, two 10-inch subwoofers, and four tactile transducers installed in the seating. My wife put her foot down and told me to choose the surround system or her. So out of the house I packed my surround system. Most of it, anyway.

I purchased the SR-B30A, specifically because this model includes a subwoofer pre-out port. I had invested a great deal of time, energy and effort to get the tactile transducers setup and balanced with the subwoofers, and I didn't want to loose that. For me, the most immersive aspect of the system I had before, was always the way that you could really feel the low end. I knew that no soundbar with a wireless sub was going to be able to come close to delivering that for me, so Yamaha had me sold on this aspect principally, but I also wanted to experience Atmos in my home. In this regard, the SR-B30A was really the only choice I saw for myself. Even if I had spent three, four or even more, times the money I would always feel that I was missing out.

This being said, the spacial aspect of the sound that the bar produces doesn't compare to what I had with the seven separate speakers on stands and mounted to walls around the room. Those seven speakers are what my wife hated, and I didn't expect a 2.1 speaker arrangement to be able to replicate that. I am, however, impressed with how well dispersed the sound is, when playing back Dolby Atmos and surround sound source material. If Yamaha can do this with just the 2.1 speakers, I can only imagine the awesomeness that could happen were they to expand the number of speakers with different angled mountings. Yeah, more speakers would necessitate a higher price tag, but I'd pay it. There are speakerbars out there that are selling for around $1K.

There are a couple of weak points, but nothing that would cause me to knock any stars off; your situation may be different though. The app for adjusting the settings of the bar is really basic. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's there, but coming from a home theater receiver with loads of crossover and room correction adjustments available, what is offered by the app seems geared to those without much audio equipment experience. The app also needs to be reconnected to the speakerbar most times after you switch apps or close it. A way to connect some Bluetooth headphones to the bar for late night listening would be a good feature too.

Speaking of Bluetooth, one thing that I hadn't need expecting, was that I'm unable to utilize the Bluetooth source when the TV is on. I suspect that this is due to me using my TV's eARC CEC for control of the basic power and volume functions of the speakerbar. I have Spotify and the other streaming services available through my TV already, so it isn't a problem for me. Just unexpected.

All told, I'm very pleased with what I got from the SR-B30A. Not the downgrade I thought it would be!

4.0 out of 5 stars What I Expected
Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024

I bought this expecting a little bit more. Yamaha has a great reputation in the music industry, and I thought this would be louder. Since I was a musician and sound engineer for 40 years, I bought this for the voice clarity. This unit stands out for that feature. I know just from the shear size of it ( even tho it has built in subwoofers) they're not going to get alot of low end. This is why I chose this unit with a subwoofer out option. I intend to pair this with a 10" powered slim line subwoofer ,later on. So, I hooked this up to a Vizio tv,and tried using the HDMI ARC port. It didn't work. I ended up using the optical out to this unit, and it functioned perfectly. I later found after doing alot of research, that Vizio has 2 settings that you need to set. It would have been nice if Vizio would have been more descriptive in their user manual. They have the HDMI ARC disabled. First, you need to go to menu then Audio then Digital Audio Out and select " Bitstream" exit back and go to " System " select CEC. ENABLE then Device Discovery. That should find the soundbar. It took me an hour of trying to find this info on the internet. I don't know if this is the same with other makes of Tv' s , but this was a real pain. I hope this helps someone out.

I purchased this for my cave, I did not want something too bulky, just something to enhance my gaming and viewing. This soundbar fits the bill, I liked that it has built in subwoofers. I ended up attaching a subwoofer to it and now it's a monster. Love it.
