About this item
- [Rean Connectors from Neutrik] Audio-Accessory XLR cables use professional Neutrik's sub-brand Rean connectors (RCX3F-M-012-1 and RCX3M-M-012-1), ensuring every cable you receive meets professional-grade standards. 3μm gold-plated pins suppress insertion noise and transmits clearer sound quality.
- [Premium Engineering Structure] This microphone cable adopts a five-layer shielding structure and high-purity OFC, which improves the ability to resist interference. The aluminum foil shielding layer has a coverage rate of up to 96%, far higher than other products. It effectively eliminates vibration noise and stampede noise, shield EMI and RFI, and thus transmit higher-definition sound quality.
- [Innovative New Material Applied] Audio-Accessory is the first brand to introduce Kevlar into audio cables. This greatly improves the durability of XLR cords, makes it withstand heavy pressure and relocations during your tour. It can withstand over 150,000 bends, which is 10 times higher than other XLR cables without Kevlar.
- [Detailed Soldering Technique] This XLR cable utilizes lead-free silver solder, ensuring smooth and solid solder joints. Compared to other XLR cords with thin solder joints, the Audio-Accessory cable ensures more stable transmission of sound signals, minimizing signal loss.
- [User-Friendly Design] The connector's locking latch is rounded and smooth without burrs, providing a comfortable pressing feel. Furthermore, the latch is very sturdy with a press lifespan of over 10,000 times. This ensures that even after multiple uses, the cable insertion and removal remain unhindered, with a secure and tight connection.

I am extremely happy with these AA Audio Accessory XLR Cables, think they are good value for money, hope to get more of them, and would recommend them to semi-professional musicians, and/or to professional voice over artists.
A winner, all round.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
TEST METHODOLOGY
I tested both of these 10ft AA Audio Accessory Balanced XLR to XLR Cables from Neutrik in the following way:
1. I recorded the same vocal narration (a fixed paragraph) into a professional DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) - Reaper - using a highly respected audio interface (the Audient ID4), and the Shure SM58, industry standard dynamic microphone).
2. I also recorded the same vocal narration using the main XLR cable I use for my vocal recordings
I made sure the recording level (gain) was the same for each recording (peaking between -18dB and 12dB), put the mic. on a microphone stand which was in a fixed position, and I sat in exactly the same position for each recording, and stood the same distance away from the mic. each time.
Another way of looking at the recording process is:
1. AA XLR cable 1, with Shure SM58 mic.. [plugged into my Audient ID4 audio interface]
2. AA XLR cable 2, with Shure SM58 mic.. [plugged into my Audient ID4 audio interface]
3. My regular XLR cable, with Shure SM58 mic.. [plugged into my Audient ID4 audio interface]
PROS - WHAT I LIKED
1. AUDIO QUALITY
Although I was sceptical when I got the cables and saw and felt the unusual (to me) Kevlar material that the cable itself is made from, I am happy to say that the AA Audio Accessory XLR cables performed in an exemplary way in my recording tests [see above for methodology], and delivered excellent audio quality
I did not notice any audio artefacts, loss of signal, or anything negative at all in using these cables: up to the standards of my other XLR cables
2. BUILD
I was also pleased with - and more important, impressed by - the quality of the Rean Neutrik connectors themselves [i.e., the male and female XLR sockets]. The connectors were easy to plug in to, and remove from, my audio interface - unlike some other XLR cables connectors, which are sometimes a struggle to deal with
3. I also really like the length of the AA Audio Accessory Balanced XLR to XLR cables - anything shorter than 10 ft. are usually a bit of a pain to use
4. The cables seem to be quite hardy, but I cannot speak fully to this as I would have to see how they perform in daily use for several months
CONS - WHAT I DID NOT LIKE
Nothing

This is the first time I have ever seen or used an audio cable constructed with Kevlar. I do have a few small BNC cables taking care of a video signals at the camera end made of Kevlar. Zero problem with them, and they are much lighter that old style BNC's.
As a result, these 10' cables are much lighter too. They seem to be very flexible and they seem to have much memory at all. For me, that's important if I am trying to hide a cable from the camera. A flat, black cable can hide along the seam in a tile floor, the meeting point between the floor and a wall, etc. But if the cable has a lot of twists and won't lie flat, it's a problem.
The Neutrik connectors are terrific - best I have seen to date! Very easy in and out, and with a nice, soft "click". The power coating paint job is so well done, it seems to help with making the connections. Perhaps that wears off in time, but for now, it's wonderful.
In addition, the "Rean" connectors have a "waist", which means that with gloves on, grasping the connectors and taking the union apart is an easy operation.
A 3/4" hard rubber cable strain relief is part of the Rean connector. Very nice. Plus, Audio-Accessory has an extra 2 1/2" lighter cable strain relief after the Rean one. All-in-all, a very protected area for a weak point in all cables.
Would I purchase these cables again? Yes. But I do have one point I need to make - and it is about the use of a Kevlar product over a silicone or rubber. True story. Many year ago, I shot in a pig farm. It is by far, the worst plant I have ever worked in. And I am talking about steel, coal, heavy industry, medical, you pretty much name it. The problem occurred with any cable that touched the ground. The smell was picked up, and it was bad. I went home and cleaned all my cables with mineral spirts a few times. You could still smell the farm, but after a few days outside, it was finally gone. The rest of the crew went to an office the next day. They had wiped down the cables, but not with any chemical. I heard that after the shoot, the carpet in the guys office was replaced.
The advantage I had, was being able to wipe down those cable with mineral spirts. My cable were/are made of a rubber compound, but it's smooth. Sometimes in studio, my cables collect so much dirt, I need to clean them at home still. But again, because they are smooth, cleaning them is pretty easy. These new Kevlar cables seem wonderful - under most conditions. I am a bit hesitant to get them too dirty. Because of all the little, tiny ridges and valleys in the cable makeup, can I still get the cable back to "like-new" condition?
Imagine you work in a muddy field on day one. Day two, you are in someones home and the carpets are white. Are you going be ok - or asked to leave?
Bottom line - these are just about the best audio cables I have ever seen or worked with. Excellent construction and workmanship! According the maker, you can order different options like length and colour. Can't ask for more! My only, single reservation, is that when environmental conditions are really nasty, can Kevlar clean up? Maybe it's a question of using these cable for 99% of your work, and having a few, old style cables just for those rare jobs when your cables are going to get really coated in "gunk".
Last point, I can't recall the last time I have seen a manufacture give you a LIFETIME WARRANTY! That tells you a lot right there about how good this company is!
Compared to my current cabling which are quite thicker, these are very elegant, braided and look not just high-tech but also built of very good quality.
Cables are easy to bend and navigate through equipment.
Connectors are very well made and again, compared to existing cables, these are easier to plug in or out from various connectors that I’ve tried but I want to emphasize - not too easily which would be concerning regarding loose connections.
None of these came up so I have no concerns.
I’ve run a few audio tests by recording a few voice samples and everything went very well. I’m using a Maranz condenser mic which requires 48 V phantom power.
No issues whatsoever, therefore cables worked as expected.
One thing I really liked and was the final argument to pick them up is that there are two in the box, each with a length of 3 m, therefore easy to concatenate if I need a longer (6 m) distance from the audio interface to the microphone.
Conclusion: These are great XLR cables with a reasonable price (30-ish $ with 15% discount at a time of order). I find it good value for money as you get 2 cables and as I mentioned earlier each one is 3 m long.
Final verdict: 5 stars

Most XLR cables terminate in connectors that were hand-assembled. (I've built more than a few myself!) They involve tricky set screws that, if dropped, seem to vanish into the aether! Neutrik has eliminated them. They're simply not there. There's nothing to work loose, as the older style tends to do when being plugged-in and unplugged night after night, and it's the rare technician who can resist wiggling them from side to side when impatiently striking a setup at the end of a long gig! These seem wiggle proof. Next, these have a very LONG rubberized jacket at the base of the connector, assuring that no frayed ends and exposed inner wiring will rear their ugly heads. I can't tell you how often I've gone into an amp rack and seen cord jacket pulled back, sometimes several inches, and wondered how it was even working!
The unknown, here, is the Kevlar reinforcement. I know Kevlar from my firearms instructor days; it's the #1 material used in bullet resistant vests, not to mention super tough things like kayak and canoe hulls. In short, it's some pretty tough stuff! As a reviewer, and as a technician without actually tearing apart one of these cables, I cannot attest to how it's used or whether or not it will be a big advantage. That said, if I had to wager a bet, I'd say that these would be my go-to cables for any high-traffic areas, or places where rough edges and other hazards to cable might lie. If you're an installer running them through walls or rafters, a Kevlar sheath should provide decent protection from nails, sharp ductwork edges and rodent teeth.
These cables also have the distinction of being the ONLY cables that came in a box! Truly impressive! So how do they sound? As far as I can tell, they're sonically 100%. I can discern no difference between these and my other, far more pricey, premium audiophile cables. These cables should satisfy the most demanding audiophile tastes as well as handling life on the road for any bands, DJs and PA techs who choose them. Add a + to my 5-stars!

Inside the connectors the joints are well-made and the cables are fully shielded. The connectors are well-made and the cable itself feels suitably tough but is actually quite flexible. I also like that the description says these cables are not suitable for DMX applications (DMX technically requires a different impedance). This may not sound important, but it shows the manufacturer/seller of these cables knows what they're doing and knows the application these cable are intended for.
The connectors are metal and I like the fact that they're black and not chrome as some connectors are. They're perhaps a bit of an odd shape, but actually this helps improve the grip when handling them. The fit/locking with other cables and the microphone I tested them with was good/firm but not overly tight. Both leads were over three metres including the main part of the connectors (not including pins/socket). The actual cable between the connectors was about 296cm but note the barrels are quite long. The only issue I had was that the branding sleeve carrying the "Audio-accessory.com" logo was actually fairly stiff and limited the bend radius of this part of the cable. The cable itself is 5.5mm diameter.
In use the sound quality was excellent. I tested them with a microphone, testing against a known good-quality professional microphone cable. There was no noise or unwanted audio artefacts that I could detect and the sound stage was very good and well balanced.
In summary, these are high quality, rugged audio cables. They may not be the cheapest, but I think for the quality they represent good value and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
