Overall my experience with this gaming monitor has been pretty solid, colors look good and games look beautiful with the ultrawide aspect, only cons I can think of is the vertical resolution only at 1080p but it aint that much of a gripe. either way its worth it for editing videos or gaming in general

I simply use this product to display movies and for routine PC use, surfing the web, email and the like. This product is excellent; almost 4K ... ample good enough for me. I am glad I bought this Asus ROG STIX XG49Vdisplay. Use only a Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card .... which is plenty.

Really surprised by the awesomeness of that monitor! HDR mode is fantastic! I will test with a few games soon but swapping my 3 separate 3D monitors for this one is a sinch! More physical space on my desk. Great quality price! Great esthétique! So far used for work and it’s already worth it!

I was excited to add this monitor to my existing array of monitors (5 others), where this monitor was to replace an older monitor that was starting to fail. I loved the quality of this monitor, being 49", it's a heavy beast but I managed to carefully pull it from the well packaged enclosure and connect it to my system. The first thing I saw was a red dot, smack in the center of the display and compared to all other monitors, the display was very washed out. Instead of returning the unit I called their support line and they were able to talk me through reset of the unit. That worked to eliminate the red dot, and when I removed HDR from Windows and the unit, the image looks amazing.
So don't despair, if you have the same issues, it's likely just a reset (slight config changes) away from working like you'd expect.
I am a software developer, so having this wide canvas is something I very much appreciate and should come to enjoy over time.

TL;DR/Key-points: This is a "super ultrawide" monitor. Dual 24-inch screen equivalency. Matte black finish over majority, gloss in areas you don't usually touch/look at. Thumb stick for menu navigation. 144Hz, 90% gamut. Not nauseating. HDMI and DP, cords included. Has power adapter and long cable. Comfortable curve. Adaptive-sync and Freesync supported, but not G-Sync.

Full review

Matte black finish over the vast majority of it, and the only gloss areas are in places you'll never touch. Screen has a very comfy curve and I haven't seen any glare at all.

This thing has the usual ASUS tilt stick for the monitor settings menu which feels extremely natural, and is why I can't use any non-ASUS monitors unless they have it. Monitor comes with a lot of very helpful settings such as a few on-screen crosshairs for a big but ethically questionable advantage (as if that matters lol).

The refresh rate is 144Hz so while the size may strain your neck a bit from looking around so much, your eyes will feel fine and it won't be nauseating unless you play at a low FoV. Some games don't work very well with a screen this wide due to improper game coding (I.E. stretching at the sides, compression in the middle), but games that are made right will look and feel GLORIOUS. Browsing the web can be a bit annoying for websites that have their content locked to the left- or right-hand sides, but sites that have centered content are a dream. The new mobile-like layouts will finally make sense to you.

This monitor type is called a "super ultrawide", or a "doublewide" because it's the equivalent of two 24" screens joined together without the bezel. If you want the equivalent of two screens but don't want two monitors, or if you just want a lot of one-screen real estate, this is definitely the monitor for you. Keep in mind that the screen is almost 4 feet long and weighs like 50 pounds when considering it. The stand itself is about 2 feet wide and a foot long, so make sure to measure to see if you can fit it.

Overall, it's a fantastic monitor and I can't see myself using anything smaller willingly. I don't like to give out 5-star reviews unless it's deserved, and this behemoth deserves a 5-star review.

No issue this far (after 3 days). Picture is very clean. I mainly use for work. Text is clear and I don't see any distorsion (something reported on 49" monitors). I have never had any issue with ASUS product, and it feels like this one is a winner.

Sadly, the color accuracy is bad
the display have some whiter spots (black not balanced)
hdr is nice but gives most of apps faded colors...
The ghosting is killing me hard, I didnt know it is
a thing before that
and FOV in game can t follow up in most games so everything looks overstretched

Bad for gaming,
Bad for graphists,
Badass looking (at least)
Bad res for content creators

Im returning this
Very nice looking tho, and very sturdy. Nice prototype for the futur or example of what gaming monitor could become.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic monitor!
Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2021
Style: 43" Curved 21:9 120HzPattern Name: MonitorVerified Purchase
I received this 43" ultrawide Asus monitor today. This replaced two mismatched monitors that I've had for years that had different screen sizes, a 24" 1080p and a 25.5" 1200p. Needless to say, that configuration was annoying in and of itself, and one of those monitors was dying. But this monitor is levels beyond just an upgrade. First, this is a very bright monitor. I had not realized how dim the others had gotten until I compared this one to them.

Secondly, the colors are very good right out of the box. I've run a colorimeter color calibration tool and had to do basically nothing to dial it in. I know this is not the highest quality monitor out there, so I did not have very high expectations. But this definitely exceeded what I thought I was getting.

Thirdly, this is way more usable than two 24" monitors which it says it replaces. Having the flexibility of no bezel in between displays really makes a huge difference. I really prefer the 1200 vertical resolution over 1080, so having that for the entire display is very satisfying.

I've seen reviewers complain about the OSD. There is nothing wrong with it at all. It is fast, and easy to use if you take 3 seconds and read how to use it. The stand is very solid and easy to maneuver. I was surprised how heavy and well made it was considering some reviews that complained about it. It is quite simply the best monitor stand that I have seen come with a monitor.

I am not a gamer and I am not running Freesync, so I can't speak to how well it works for those purposes. But for my normal work / photo editing / data analysis / spreadsheet / coding purposes this thing is fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars ASUS ROG Strix XG43VQ 43

This monitor was chosen due to the size and resolution. Many of the ultrawide 1440p monitors were sold out and I didnt want a 1080. This monitor is 1200p so its kindof in the middle. There is another version of this monitor that is a 49in but the resolution goes down to 1080p. This is a great monitor for someone who cant decide between a 34in or 49in monitor and looking at 1080p or 1440p resolutions. This monitor is pretty close to being in the middle in terms of size and resolution while having all the features you could ask with including a high refresh rate. The only downsides I've found are the picture by picture isnt easy to setup if you want to use multiple sources on the screen. However I can comfortably have 3 web pages open side by side. The brightness at times seems to be too bright even with brightness turned down to zero. I've been using this monitor for work during the day and sim racing in the evening since it was purchased. I use the monitor between 8-12 hours a day, 7 days a week and would recommend this monitor for the price if purchased at or below msrp.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super-ultrawide ergonomics challenges. Low PPI.
Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2020
Style: 43" Curved 21:9 120HzPattern Name: MonitorVerified Purchase
2-week review for the ASUS Strix Rog XG43VQ

I bought this monitor for a couple reasons:
-Smaller footprint than 2 monitors
-Taking advantage of super ultrawide gaming

PROS:
+Superwiiiiiide (basically 2 1920x1200 screens)
+Picture-by-picture is great for work-from-home and connecting your work laptop and you don't need the whole screen as one.
+Color rendition is beyond that of some competitors

CONS:
-Less-than-spectacular 93.56 PPI
-Lack of significant application-based control. All controls are ON the monitor. Competing monitors (like MSI MPG341CQR) have an application that makes changes a little easier using a desktop application and hotkeys than fighting through the in-monitor menus. DISCLAIMER: This isn't a big deal if you're not switching into and out of PBP on the daily.
-Not the flashiest screen chassis. A disadvantage for gamers who care about hardware LEDs, and other silly things.
-USB port placement. This monitor only has 1 port, and it's on the bottom. I'd prefer side-mounted, and 2 ports.
-PBP change almost ALWAYS necessitates a resolution change.
-PBP gets canceled when 1 connected computer goes to sleep. This is SUPER-annoying
-PBP is limited to 60Hz. This is annoying if you want to switch between PBP (at required 60Hz) and non-PBP use for gaming at 120Hz frequently. I use Hotkey Resolution Changer on Windows to make this less of a hassle.

CONS OF ALL ULTRAWIDES:
-Not all competitive games support super ultrawide resolutions, since they provide a distinct advantage over "normal ratio" monitors. You'll get vignetting and sidebars on some games that don't want you to have the field-of-view advantage over other players.
-Window management ergonomics. This is something that everyone's probably going to forget about. Not everyone is going to like using Word and Photoshop and their web browser in full-screen mode. Windows "snap to sides" functionality doesn't work all that great either, since I'd be hoping to have MORE snap points for MORE than just 2 windows. Resizing your windows CONSTANTLY to support multitasking is tiring. Downloading and using Windows PowerTools has been OKAY to provide additional snap points.

OTHER NOTABLE QUIRKS:
-This monitor takes about 10 seconds to fire up from sleep.

NOTES ABOUT THE MSI MPG341CQR, a competitor:
+Slightly higher pixel density (109.68 PPI vs the ASUS 93.56 PPI, 17% better)
+Better placement for USB ports (side), and TWO of them
+Fancy LED lighting effects on the front and back of the casing
-Fancy LED lighting is not customizeable.
-Lighting on the back is completely useless as a "backlight" for the wall.
-Only a NON-SUPER ultrawide (3440x1440)
-Poorer color rendition
~Unclear if the built-in-webcam with facial recognition is an "advantage". It's a garbage camera, compared to my dedicated Logitech c920.

TAKEAWAY for the ASUS Strix Rog XG43VQ:
-Good bargain, good features, middling pixel density, but SUPERWIIIIIIDE.
-When used as a single monitor, this is a beautiful screen. Bragging rights about super ultrawide are fun, and the screen is downright impressive, everytime I use it.
-When used as multiple-input with Picture-by-picture, the shortcomings for ease-of-use of this function are OBVIOUS.
-Super-ultrawide aren't for everyone. The MSI MPG341CQR will be more desirable for most people that don't want to HAVE to resize windows ALL THE TIME.

If you REALLY want PBP and better color rendition, buy the ASUS
If you want a better gaming experience, higher PPI, better features, buy the MSI

10 MONTHS LATER: still loving this monitor! A piece of information I didn't notice when writing the first review is that the left side of the monitor seems to take a second to warm up. Flickers a little bit like fluorescent....but it's LED.... It's minimally noticeable and I dismissed it for a few days as my eye possibly twitching, LOL. Also confusing, the manual references warm up of fluorescent backlights. Advertising everywhere says it's an LED back light... but it's sure BEHAVING like fluorescent. Beyond that, after a few minutes, the flickering stops.
