Works for me to hold my 100FT 12/3 extension cord
This isn't the best cord reel in the world, but it was good for the price. (Hence 4/5 stars)With a bit of patience and perseverance I can get all 100 feet of my 12/3 extension cord on it, but I have to hold down the start of the cord as it's too thick to fit under the plastic 'clip'. Once I get it going I just have to evenly distribute it while winding. I find that it is best to attach the end of the cord to something and walk away with the reel when unwinding as the reel will slide on the floor when it gets less cord on it when pulling the cord off the stationary reel.This reel works for me as I don't use this extension often, but if you use yours a lot you will probably want to look elsewhere. Any cord shorter or of a smaller gauge will probably be fine.As a side note: My extension cord is made by "Prime Wire & Cable inc" (Costco).

When I saw this product advertised to hold up to 125 ft of 14/2, I thought it would be no problem holding 100 ft of 12/2. And I was right…although the cord retainer clip on the plastic drum does not hold the plug properly so you have to monkey with it a bit to get the process started. The wheel is rather flimsy plastic and the assembly is very lightweight…when winding on 12/2 cord you need both hands and a foot to stabilize the rig whilst getting the cord started on the wheel. I have mastered it now…happy with this product.

I worked really well. It's pretty lightweight and holds the cord well. I think it's durable enough to hold the cord fine, but I wouldn't put it through too much abuse, which is what I tend to do with things. I'm not too concerned about it breaking since I'm OK with gluing it back together.
You might want to duct tape the handle for added security because it seemed to move a little. The handle is 2 plastic tubes inserted together.
Overall, I'm happy and it saved me time!
